JayDeeParticipantI am lazy paying bills, but I didn’t notice if the City has refunded us ratepayers for the three weeks in West Seattle without garbage/yard waste/recycling pickup. (On one snowy morn, I actually placed the containers on the curb because they said they were coming…How many L’s in gullible?)
Does anyone know if this refund is actually coming, or not?

alki_2008ParticipantJust got my SPU bill yesterday, and the $5 credit was there (noted in the itemized section).

JayDeeParticipantGee, $5 seems gratuitous given that I pay $18/month for combined service. If they actually paid us $13 (75%) of the monthly fee, I’d be more satisfied. But I am just a taxpayer/ratepayer/citizen, what do I know.

anonymeParticipantHas anyone else noticed extra garbage pickup fees on their SPU bills? They’ve been doing this to me since December’s bill despite the fact that I was putting out the trash once a month because I had so little – not even one full can a month. Given the water surcharge going into effect to make up for the refund they were forced to give, I don’t trust these “accidental” extra garbage fees. I wonder how many people haven’t read the fine print on their bills and don’t know they are being charged these unnecessary fees. I still can’t believe they’re getting away with the water surcharge. Outrageous.

mrhinehMemberThe fire hydrant “refund” is there too. I can now expect to get schlocked for their reimbursement back. It would have been more entertaining to just form a pyramid with our neighbors and pass along the 25 bucks back and forth.

alki_2008Participantanonyme – Yes! I had ‘extra’ garbage pickup fees on my last bill that amounted to 1/3 of my total bill. Gave them a call and they didn’t have a good explanation of what the charge was for. It’s quite aggravating that they put these ‘extra’ charges on there without any explanation of what the charges are for. I don’t put garbage out every week, and it’s never overflowing or anything like that on the weeks that I do put it out. Ridiculous. I wonder if this is common practice.
