HawkeyeParticipantNever thought I’d say this, but thank god for the Sounders. After a weekend of bad Mariners baseball, worse Seahawks football and a heartbreaking loss by the Storm in the playoffs last night, I’m nearly ready to buy a rave green jersey and start chanting and marching from Pioneer Square on FC game days.
Who’s with me?

JiggersMemberSoccer sucks! Just my opinion. Its not a real man’s game. Football is the greatest sport ever invented.

jissyParticipantOh Jiggers, you and your witty blog banter! I really have to jump in here about soccer, with only my opinion. Soccer players are some of the most fit, elite athletes on the planet…. think about it, there are no time outs, delay of game, restarts, resets, whathaveyou. Soccer players are in constant motion, sprints and starts the entire 90 minutes of a game (interval training anyone?). I just recently read that they burn 10,000 calories in 1, 90 minute game. There’s not many people that can do that at a professional level.
Add to that (besides throw-ins & the goal keeper), you don’t use your hands which is an instinctual reflex. Learning to juggle the ball with your feet, head, knees, using your body in the course of play and using BOTH feet, not just a dominant foot, is skill at its finest.
Oh wait, I just re-read your post — you do come back to your senses “Football is the greatest sport ever invented” — yup, Futbol IS the greatest sport ever invented.
Hawkeye, where can we meet for the next March to the Match? SOUNDERS TILL I DIE!

JiggersMemberWhatevers..Soccer players don’t need to wear life protecting gear so twist all the way you want to. And don’t go there with the running around for 90 minutes when they aren’t hitting as hard on every play like in American football Puhleeze! You won’t win this argument. Mommy’s who don’t want their kids to get hit and hurt violently, only allows them to play soccer. American football is a very, very violent controlled sport.

kootchmanMemberWrestling is more demanding than soccer… I did both in college. Can’t say much about football… other than when ya see it live… between commercial network breaks… it sure is boring. Explains why they have the cheerleaders

waynsterParticipantSpoken like true seattle/washington sport fans only support your teams when they win refuse to boo them off the field when they have play like crap just sit there and pout… get into the game have fun curse em opps don’t want to do that might affend someone while having fun… get real people its sports……

JayDeeParticipantGuilty as charged Waynster: If the Ms field a team of AAA hacks, why should I pay $40 for a ticket and consumables to watch them? Sure, I support them, but they have to make an effort to field a competitive team–I am not asking for the World Series (which will not be coming soon at this rate) but the idea that while sitting in the expensive seat drinking overpriced beer that at least the team has a chance to win. The Ms set a team and dang near a league record for strike-outs, and attendance is sub 20,000 fans most games: coincidence? I think not. Besides I can curse them from the couch or read a book…or WSB…

jissyParticipantGive ’em your full 90, Jiggers!
Chance for a Threepeat tonight!
See you at the game, Hawkeye!

dawsonctParticipantAbsolutely agree Kootch (!!), watching pro American football live is about as boring as it gets. At least if you watch it on teevee, they fill up all the delays in action with neat graphics and commercials.
American football, 4 seconds of action interrupting 30+ seconds of standing around.
GO SOUNDERS!! SOUNDERS T.I.D.!!

jissyParticipantJiggers: Hope to see you at the CLink tonight! With 60,000 in attendance, you just might be there… I know, odds are slim but I can hope.
SOUNDERS T.I.D.!!!
Give ’em your full 90!!!!
October 16, 2011 at 10:24 pm #734975
jissyParticipantWas that THE best come-from-behind victory you’ve EVER seen? Man, 2 goals to win it in the last 10 minutes. So glad there were 64,000+ to share it with!
