JiggersMemberBack to true form I see again. I am hoping they make the playoffs. 9 years straight and counting no playoffs. Philip Humber of Chicago humbled M’s bats today and threw a no hitter. Read on.

DBPMemberThis is something I’ll never get about most so-called competitive sports.
Suppose I’m a baseball fan. My ultimate wet dream would theoretically be to see my team’s pitcher throw the ball directly over home plate how many times? 81? â while the opponent’s batter just stands there blinking.
BORING!!
Or take soccer. With soccer, you can call it a good day if you watch a bunch of guys kick the ball back and forth aimlessly over the grass about a thousand times â as long as ONE of those kicks manages to knock the ball into a net. (Which can, and often does, happen accidentally.) Final score 1-0. And the crowd goes wild!!
Again: BORING!
Football I kinda get, on the level of “blood sport” — except if you’re out for blood, why let the players wear protective gear?
Basketball makes some sense to me: Lots of back and forth, lots of points. I still don’t like it, but at least I get it.
Ditto boxing. Don’t like it; think it’s primitive. But it’s probably the most honest sport going.

P.S. Bicycle racing? Ha. A good ride spoiled. Plus these days there seems to be more cheating than riding. Why don’t they call it “Competitive Cheating on Wheels”?
Hey, did you catch the Tour de Farce coverage today?
Oh yeah! It’s just amaaazing how fast those guys can do a blood transfusion!

HMC RichParticipantI was there. Never ever thought I would see a MLB Perfect Game.
DBP, I watch chess and it is not that exciting but the strategy can be. Same with baseball.
And it is much better than war.

JiggersMemberYeah Rich..at this time watching paint dry is more fun than watching this team play and try to figure themselves out once again…(

JiggersMemberJoB… it isn’t that hard to do against this lineup. When part of the order that’s supposed to produce isn’t doing just that, the rest of the lineup normally does what its supposed to do..swing and a miss = perfect game.

JiggersMemberBeer drinkers should have no problem getting a beer today since the stadium will be empty. Normally it takes an inning or so to get anything at the concession stands.

casabobaMemberFinally, a team potentially worse than my beloved Chicago Cubs… It’s going to be a L-O-N-G Summer again…

JiggersMemberRangers are smoking hot. Watch out for the Nationals this year, they are stacked!

365StairsParticipant$11.00 beers…will be very short line.
Having a bad team is certainly better than no team…
Professional athletics just needs to come back down to reality…
Business model is broken
