CaitParticipantDoesn’t necessarily have to be West Seattle, but we’re looking for somewhere fun to go for our 5 year anniversary. Just to give you an idea of my tastes, my favorite restaurant in the world is the Blue Bayou in Disneyland… I know… I won’t find anything quite like that here but I’m looking for something kinda quirky, fun, good for a date.
Any suggestions would be helpful!
Anything to get off the swine flu topic, eh?

BonnieParticipantI can’t think of anything but Happy Anniversary!
May 1, 2009 at 5:39 am #665665
CaitParticipantThanks Bonnie! :)

TheHouseMemberLa Rustica is always a nice little getaway in WS.
I just ate at Daniels Broiler in Bellevue and had great steak and a fantastic view of Lake Washington/Seattle!
Otherwise, there are countless great seafood restaurants along the piers DT!

CaitParticipantMmmm, La Rustica! I’d forgotten about that place :)

celeste17ParticipantI don’t know about this restaurant but out at Southcenter there is a Bahama Breeze restaurant.

EmmyJaneParticipantEntre Nous in downtown Seattle is our favorite spot for special occasions. Such fabulous food!

Its French tapas/fondue so you get to try lots of different dishes in one meal.

PDieterParticipantPhoenicia on Alki. Don’t order, just let the owner know your price range and let him do his thing, he will make your anniversary a memorable night.

AshleyMemberI’m not sure what the Blue Bayou is but my boyfriend took me to Canlis for my birthday and it was everything I had ever heard and more. Service and food was impeccable. Food was mouth watering!!! But be prepared to drop some cash!

JanSParticipanta friend just raved about Ipanema at the Harbour Steps on 1 st Ave. Down town..fixed price, but she said really worth it…brazilian food…
May 1, 2009 at 3:40 pm #665673
JoBParticipantthere is that jungle themed place in southcenter.. very disneyland.. and the food is reasonably good…
ask to be seated where you can see the fish tank over the door.. by the elephants… the “fish freeway” is great fun…
May 1, 2009 at 4:09 pm #665674
TraciMemberI loooove Bizarro in Wallingford. It’s VERY eclectic (think carnie-type wait staff, Abba playing loudly, and crazy decor), great made-from-scratch Italian food and wine.
May 1, 2009 at 6:22 pm #665675
beachdrivegirlParticipantLa Rustica is top notch in West Seattle!!
Volterra is good in Ballard (has been on the foodnetwork a few times…0
Canlis is great too! (Ashley, my husband surprised me for my b-day dinner this year too!)
The Met in downtown has soem great steaks & you usually see some of seattle’s finest athletes which is fun…
May 1, 2009 at 6:31 pm #665676
biankatParticipantBlue Bayou :) Fun place. I HIGHLY recommend Ray’s Boathouse. We went there for our anniversary last June and had a beautiful time. Gorgeous views, sun was out, food was fantastic (I’m not a fish eater and had a fabulous steak). They even gave us a little celebratory gift of Theo chocolates.
May 1, 2009 at 6:32 pm #665677
JanSParticipantI’ve heard wonderful things about Volterra…good suggestion…
May 1, 2009 at 6:43 pm #665678
SueParticipantWhen we want something fun and different, we’ve gone to the Crab Pot in Bellevue. (There’s one downtown, but I like the Bellevue one better, being on the lake and looking less tacky.) They have various “seafood feasts” which are steamed seafood/potato/corn they dump on your paper-covered table, and give you mallets to crack it and eat with your hands. It’s a total mess, but I find it fun and not something I’d normally do at home. I certainly wouldn’t call it “fine dining,” but it’s a fun change of pace.
May 1, 2009 at 7:00 pm #665679
grrParticipantI’ll put a big Plus in for Phoencia on Alki. It’s our go-to special occasion place. Especially when the weather is nice.
La Rustica..sigh…0-3 for me. It’s just never lived up to the hype.
-now..for something different..if you like Greek…venture over to lower east Queen Ann (5th and Roy) and check out Pano’s Kelftiko!!!
May 1, 2009 at 7:22 pm #665680
villagegreenMemberI second Bizarro. Unlike anything else in Seattle. Not the best Italian in the city, but is quite good and would definitely be a memorable experience. Happy anniversary!
May 1, 2009 at 7:35 pm #665681
KBearParticipantHow about Than Bros or Lampreia? I’ve heard Skillet is good, too, but they’re hard to find.
May 1, 2009 at 8:30 pm #665682
scapriParticipantThough it’s a chain, the melting pot is a fun spot to go to or Benihana is nice as well.
If you’ve just looking for really good food, a personal favorite is Harvest Vine (in Madison) or Nell’s in Greenlake.
May 1, 2009 at 8:34 pm #665683
JanSParticipantNell’s is such an unpretentious looking place…and great food…pleasant view of the lake, too…
May 1, 2009 at 9:29 pm #665684
biankatParticipantThere’s always Teatro Zinzanni too…
May 1, 2009 at 9:57 pm #665685
JoMemberYes…Yes…Yes to Teatro Zinzanni.
My kids took me there last Mother’s Day and I haven laughed so hard to a long time.
Food was excellent also.
A little pricey, but well worth it. It’s a incredible experience.
May 1, 2009 at 10:56 pm #665686
CallMeAlMemberWhite Center taco truck? By candlelight?
May 1, 2009 at 11:01 pm #665687
AnonymousInactivea quick word on teatro zinanzi…I took my husband there for his birthday and it was like that tv commercial where the guy is trying to figure out what show to go see is Las Veges. It was very uncomfortable for him because they were trying to make him in the show, which I didn’t know was how they did things there. I’m sure it will be fun if you understand what your getting in to.
