JoBParticipantJust happens to be in the Admiral Junction tucked away on a little side street across from Blockbuster Video.
We can only hope that the rest of Seattle doesn’t catch on because the limited seating could very well have us waiting in line for a local treasure.
Yup, I am talking about the new Pizzaria 22… a truly grown up date night pizzaria with a full bar and a bartender who knows how to mix a mean cocktail.
From appetizer (clams in a spicy red sausage sauce) to salad (caprese with real beefsteak tomatoes) to pizza (garlic and chicken) to dessert (chocolate calzone with strawberry gelato) with a few drinks thrown in… dinner was exceptional.
Not only did Hubby and I agree that this was the best pizza we have had in West Seattle… he told the waitress that this was the best pizzaria in town… by a wide margin.
Now maybe it was the negroni cocktail and the hams beer and the grappa talking.. but I only had limonata pellagroni and I agreed with him…
still.. I drove home.
If you haven’t tried this place yet, you should.

wundrgrrrlParticipantI’ll second that! It’s become our favorite spot in the hood… And yes, the bet pizza in town (shhhh though – I don’t want to wait in line)

JoBParticipantredblack…
I know
I don’t know what possessed him
and he liked it
of course he did have that grapefruit negroni first
I was not so fond of his Hamms
he shared it with me all night long :(
he was right though
i was the one who wouldn’t like the consequences
great date night
i don’t remember when we have had such a good time over dinner

SKBMemberCompletely agree that this place is GREAT. Been going since shortly after they opened. And it’s not just the great food, we also love the ambiance and service… they pay attention to the pace at which your eating so you don’t get everything at once. And if you’re sitting near the pizza oven it’s fun to watch your food get prepped & cooked. Cheers to them!

hoffanimalParticipantWait, better than Proletariat? Heresay! Surely you are not counting the Prole because it is in WC. Seriously, I am going to have to try it.

Proletariat is now my second favorite pizza place…
I like White Center.
I like the Proletariat’s cool hip vibe.
I love the ham and egg pizza
but…
I have been seduced by this classy little hole in the wall where the pizza is sublime and the vibe is so very grown up.

odrokuParticipantIf you ever find yourself on the other end of the bridge seeking pizza, you should try Bar del Corso. I won’t get into an argument over who has the better pie, taste being relative and all, but they are definitely in the discussion of any serious debate over top pizzas in the city.
AND, Beacon Hill is near enough and has parking.

JoBParticipantodroku…
is this a thin crust place?
if so, we will definately try it.
hubby is ever on the hunt for a better pizza
and i would be glad to recommend someplace on Beacon Hill if it helped retain accessibility for us:)
November 10, 2011 at 5:43 pm #739767
odrokuParticipantDefinitely a thinner crust and definitely a valid target in your hubby’s quest.

davetteParticipantApparently you haven’t tried Phonecia’s pizza down on Alki… I think there is no comparison… Best in the City…
November 11, 2011 at 11:52 pm #739769
wundrgrrrlParticipantI have tried Phoenicia’s and it is darn good I will admit, but Pizzeria 22 still wins for me based on the lightness of the dough alone.

thesonicsMemberIt’s close between Phoenicia’s and Pizzeria 22, but if I had to choose one, I’d go for Pizzeria 22 as well.

JoBParticipanti confess…
I know it isn’t done to say so
but i don’t really like the new Phoenicia so much.
maybe it’s because it is so different from the old Phoenicia which i loved with a passion.
but i just don’t enjoy being there any more.
that said
their pizza is very good.
