BonnieParticipantThose of you who drive a mini-van or family car…
What do you drive?
Do you like it?
Would you recommend it?
We’re in the market for a new family or mini-van. (never thought I’d want a mini-van but I do!) I’d just like to know what you all think of yours. Love or Hate.
Thanks!

shihtzuParticipantI too think a mini-van would be luxurious at times, but I’ve driven a big car and it’s not pleasant in the city. I’m a fan of the Honda-CRV sized SUVs.

JeraldParticipantWe’re on our second minivan but kind of wish we’d gone with something a bit smaller, maybe a Subaru Forester. Our 90’s minivan got better mileage and was narrower, so easier to park. Now they are heavier, in part due to more airbags, etc., and seem more cumbersome. I’d never want to go back to anything real low to the ground, though.

BonnieParticipantThanks everybody. Maybe I should look back at some of those mid size cars my husband has been emailing me about. I’m not very good at parking. LOL!

hopeyParticipantBonnie, I’m *very* happy with my brand new Subaru Outback. That might be something else for you to consider. Subaru is still offering special pricing with 0% financing and cash back depending on what model you choose.
fwiw, I got mine from Carter Subaru up in Shoreline. Walker’s Renton Subaru is technically closer, but I did not have a good experience there, and they have less customer amenities. Carter’s service is open seven days a week, and they have free and EASY loaner vehicles. Joe Spitz was our sales rep, he made the whole thing very easy. He has a great Subaru info site: http://www.cars101.com/

JoBParticipanthopey…
i loved my old subaru wagon.. put 200,000+ miles on it… and would be driving it still if a cross country trip to minnesota hadn’t loomed… i was convinced to replace it…
i recently drove my friend’s volvo wagon… and i have to say i was impressed… tho not with the pricetag…
but it was comfortable.. got decent gas mileage… and had great utility…
what i want is something comfortable.. automatic.. with great seats (doctor’s orders for me on both of those now) some utility and still fun to drive…
but not so expensive…
even if my miracle car existed.. i wouldn’t be buying yet.. but i have hope for the future.

BonnieParticipantThanks Jo and hopey. I actually like my old Mercedes wagon I have but it has almost 200,000 miles and is making some strange sounds. I don’t know if it’s even worth getting fixed for me to drive any longer. It’s just getting too old. Time for another!

cruiserMemberMercedes with 200k has just been broken in:) It equates to any other car with 90k,get a quote to have her fixed and converted to diesel and watch her go another 200K.

beachdrivegirlParticipantI have a 2001 volvo (not wagon), but volvo the gas mileage and reliabilty are fantastic. Nearly 29mpg on average…
the only downside on teh Volvo’s is the cost of the filter for an oil change…

BonnieParticipantCruiser, my Mercedes has some problem with the hydrolics (??) and then the other day it started lurching like the transmission is going out. It also gets only 15 miles a gallon!
I used to have a Nissan Altima before that and I hated it. Needed something a bit bigger to drag all the kids stuff around…although it got decent gas mileage.
