Folks, I just saw this and I have post this. I just followed a pair of cars doing less than 5mph down the west side of Admiral hill.

    Why is this a problem?

Because, most traffic is going a good bit faster and catching the slow car on a downhill icy slope and being forced to decelerate on a downhill, on ice, in some cases dramatically.

Please stop do not do this. You (the slow driver) are putting other drivers at risk.

All it takes is one car locking up its wheels while trying to slow down to your speed and getting into a free slide to cause an accident behind you.

What should you do if you do not feel you can go down the hill at somewhere near the same pace as the other drivers?

Find a good place and pull over and let the other cars go by you. There are plenty of good places on that hill to pull over and stop with out having to be worried about getting stuck.

To be clear, I am not advocating that people drive any faster than they are comfortable doing, but understand that driving too slow can be as dangerous to everyone else as to fast under these conditions.

    Thanks

    D

Agreed – we all need to watch for freezing roadways tonight, but on slushy/powdery streets something in the line of 20 mph is more appropriate.

Also folks – keep off your brakes!! Use your lower gears to slow you down – it works beautifully without sliding.

i think i was in the same line. the car that was the problem was an old datsun, i believe. yes that car was a pain in the @%%. You are right we are not telling people to go fast but it was pretty clear out there. If the person was afraid to drive then that person should have not been out there.

I was in tow mode just so i could stay off my brakes.
