Someone e-mailed about this (not sure if it’s the OP in this thread or not). Didn’t have a photo though and didn’t say exactly what the quote was. I may not get back over to Alki for a couple hours so if anyone near there cares to send a photo, I’m curious what exactly this is. Also, moving this to 2008 Elections since it’s about politics — TR

I saw this down there yesterday, but was too blown away to stay and read it. Me and little one were on our bikes.

I was wondering why it was parked there on Salty’s property.

the quote is ‘he who owns the youth owns the future’ or something similar.

A quick internet search of that quote reveals that Obama has often been compared to Hitler as far as his campaigning style.

Barrack Obama is going to be the next president of the United States of America and there isn’t anything anyone can do to stop it. GO OBAMA!

we just went by and took a few photos.

“who owns the youth owns the future” is the specific quote attributed to Hitler.

if it’s still there tomorrow I will check with our Salty’s contact to see what the story is.

there was a purported URL across the top of the truck side – wastatelibertyfreedomandindependenceexpress.com – not checking out to an actual website so far (I am trying combinations).

The door of the truck says “The Kingen Family” followed by Wolfi’s and Patriots. Salty’s owner’s name is Gerry Kingen. He apparently does have a track record of political involvement (probably old news to many, but keep in mind I was working in citywide media for many years and this is our first major election year since we focused in on West Seattle by launching WSB). This story came up from 2004.

P.S. in other research, I had no idea he was founder of the Red Robin chain.

NR…you never miss a chance to get a dig in there, do you?… that quote on the bus hasn’t a da**ed thing to do with Obama. You may think what you want about him, but geez, stop with the trite sayings re: compared to Hitler (how awful is that statement…Hitler, the crazy man, who murdered what? hundreds of thousands of people? I expect more from you)….or that he :”has a muslim middle name”, implying that he’s in bed with the terrorists…it’s all trite junk, and intelligent people know better than that.

Yes, I know, you’ll just say “I don’t believe it, but was just sayin’ what I heard”…well, if you don’t believe it, why bring it up!!!!!

TR…Gerry Kingen also bought the property next to the Alki Tavern, I believe, when it was a place called “The Embers” with plans to put mebbe a RR there..but it never happened and now it’s a hole in the ground. He may have by now sold the property to someone else.

JanS – If you read my post, I said that that is what an internet search revealed. I said nothing about it.

Do some research before you jump on people.

I guess I simply don’t understand what it had to do with anything in this thread, except that it was something that came up when you googled the quote. It had NOTHING to do with the discussion…and that was MY point. I doubt that if it had said that about McCain in your search, that you would have mentioned it…so, it’s just my opinion that you just had to slide it in there. But you know your motives better than me, so I may be totally wrong. If I am, mea culpa…

I’m reading it as having everything to do with Obama. As in that some republican supporters would like his appeal to be compared to Hitler so that we’re afraid. It’s disgusting, if that’s the tactic, but not irrelevant.

the quote from Hitler referred to his mania for youth indoctrination… and we are talking hard core indoctrination here.. teaching kids to turn in their parents for “impure” thoughts… and to terrorize anyone they thought wasn’t supporting Hitler enough.. or who wasn’t white enough… with violence.. it was a training ground for the SS.

Obama’s quotes in regards to youth… and the youth movement inspired by Obama… refer to inspiration.. inspiring them to become involved in democracy.

A better comparison for the Obama inspired youth movement would be the Kennedy inspired youth movement that led to large numbers enrolling in the peace corp and other local development programs.

“Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country”

Equating inspiration with indoctrination is a fear tactic that goes more than a step too far.

I saw the bus.. glad i didn’t stop to read further.. and i won’t eat at Saltys again…

good thing we had a beautiful day for our late lunch janS.. because that’s a memory we aren’t going to recreate:)

The continual citing of quotes/URLs/sites unrelated to the topic blows the whole thing somewhere else–onto one’s own crusade. Hitler to Obama? Seriously, it is really hard to keep to the main topic (or keep an interest in the main topic) when the inflammatory, off-topic, google-y gop begins. You can find anything on the internet to support anything you believe–and most of us know that.

Did anyone read the pi link by TR? I had no idea the owner was this kind of person. I would imagine a lot of Seattle-ites would no longer want to spend their money at his establishments.

Do a google search of “McCain+Hitler” and you get two primary sources: John Haggee (McCain’s “pastor” Haggee) saying Hitler was doing G-d’s work” and Ann Coulter, saying McCain wasn’t another Hitler because Hitler had a coherent tax policy. Be careful where you go with this stuff…it may backfire on you. :-)

Gerry is running for PCO in his precinct.

Any libertarian or Ron Paul supporter neighbors who want to annoy him, pick a candidate of your own and run against him as a write in. :)

If you guys really want me to bust out the Hitler Quotes I can do it.

Rest assured they have to cherry pick with a long pole to get any that describe Obama or any Dem.

The real dog whistle in the recent McSame ads are aimed at “left behind” readers. “The One” is code for the Anti-Christ for those who subscribe to the John Nelson Darby heresy as fictionalized by Tim LeHaye.

Look for it in an email bx near you.

This is the core swiftboat tactic of the next few months and it will be effective among the Holy rollers the ignoranti and those who don’t want to admit to their hard core racism.

I am pretty sure they were never going to vote for Obama anyway.

Just a taste of Adolf the creationist:

Everybody who has the right kind of feeling for his country is solemnly bound, each within his own denomination, to see to it that he is not constantly talking about the Will of God merely from the lips but that in actual fact he fulfils the Will of God and does not allow God’s handiwork to be debased. For it was by the Will of God that men were made of a certain bodily shape, were given their natures and their faculties. Whoever destroys His work wages war against God’s Creation and God’s Will.

The result of all racial crossing is therefore in brief always the following:

Lowering of the level of the higher race; and physical and intellectual regression and hence the beginning of a slowly but surely progressing sickness.

To bring about such a development is, then, nothing else but to sin against the will of the eternal creator.

Even the most superficial observation shows that Nature’s restricted form of propagation and increase is an almost rigid basic law of all the innumerable forms of expression of her vital urge. Every animal mates only with a member of the same species. The titmouse seeks the titmouse, the finch the finch, the stork the stork, the field mouse the field mouse, the dormouse the dormouse, the wolf the she-wolf, etc.

Should the same renunciation not be possible if this injunction is replaced by the admonition finally to put an end to the constant and continuous original sin of racial poisoning, and to give the Almighty Creator beings such as He Himself created?

From where do we get the right to believe, that from the very beginning Man was not what he is today? Looking at Nature tells us that in the realm of plants and animals changes and developments happen. But nowhere inside a kind shows such a development as the breadth of the jump, as Man must supposedly have made, if he has developed from an ape-like state to what he is today.

Apparently McCains’s getting quite a bang for his buck with THE ONE ads. According to David Gergen, who has worked with White Houses, both Republican and Democrat,

“As a native of the south, I can tell you, when you see this Charlton Heston ad, ‘The One,’ that’s code for, ‘he’s uppity, he ought to stay in his place.’ Everybody gets that who is from a southern background.”

as a humorous note, the Air Force has adopted as their new slogan “Above All.” In German, that would translate to “Uber Alis”, the same slogan as the Nazi Party.

    Not making this up.

Sorry I did a search on the quote in question.

Do it yourself and you will see the results I saw.

To stretch my sharing of what came up on a Google search into ME trying to make a connection with Obama is inappropriate as that is not at all what I posted. I didn’t say a thing about it either way, just shared the results of the quote.

    It isn’t my van.

well, I just googled the quote as first stated, just like you did, and absolutely nothing came up about Obama being compared to Hitler in his speechifying. I will continue to look…

JanS has the Democrat version, and NewResident has the GOP version of Google.

Don’t you two know that Google knows everything about you, and only gives returns based upon your political leanings?
