SueParticipantI am having a new chain link fence installed by my landlord, and he gave us permission to pick up and install those vinyl (or whatever they’re made of) “privacy slats” that you insert into the chain link fence for some privacy. I’ve found places that sell them online, but is there somewhere I can pick them up locally?

BayouMemberI would try McClendon’s. Or you could call and ask them if they have them in stock: 206.762.4090

SueParticipantThanks, Bayou. After calling every hardware store in creation (or so it seemed), McClendon’s said they can order them, but do not have them in stock. The closest place that actually has them in stock is Lowes in Tukwila. I’ll probably go into McClendon’s to find out what they can order and in what colors, and how long it’ll take – I’d rather go with a local place, but I also don’t want to wait many weeks for it (as I’m bound to back the car into the new fence since I can’t it as well as the old one with the chain link blending into the background).

GenHillOneParticipantCan you get them from the company that’s installing the fence?

SueParticipantIt was my landlord doing it – I don’t know where he got the materials from, but he installed it himself (it’s not his profession). I guess he forgot about that part when he ordered it. At least he was nice enough to offer to let us deduct the cost from the rent if we picked it up ourselves. I just never imagined it would be so hard to find!

KevinParticipantAll City Fence has them for sale. That is who installed our chain link fence. They really do make a chain link fence look nice and cut down about 85% of the visibility through the fence. They can be easily installed even after the fence is up.

SueParticipantThanks Kevin, but we did end up getting them from Loews a week or two back. McLendons had to special order them and it would take 2 weeks or so and we really did want them ASAP. Loews in Tukwila had them in stock and they were cheaper too.
