hammerheadParticipantLittle Peanut Kitty Needs Help
Meet Peanut:
http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/18018384
Peanut came from a hoarder and is the biggest love bug you could find in a small body. She has been super-friendly from the beginning, even when she had to be isolated due to *let’s call it* uncontrolled bowel issues. While putting up with many baths and being treated for parasites (along with a very sore bum), she never lost her spirit. Unfortunately, sometime Friday night or early Saturday, Peanut was probably playing with her foster mates and has broken her leg. In a nutshell, it will cost $1200 to repair or $500 to amputate. It is unlikely we will be able to swing the $1200 repair; the other option is even a stretch, but she’s a special girl. If anyone would like to help with her medical costs, we would, of course, be grateful – as would Peanut. Contributions can be made directly to “Peanut” at South Seattle Vet by phone at (206) 242-8338 or via the donate button on feraltrapping.com. We tentatively have her scheduled for a Tuesday surgery. Peanut will also need some time to rehab and will be looking for a forever home with her special person.
I know things are tough for everyone, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

justcuzMemberYes, they’re all special, but truly, this little girl has a spark. Peanut just seems so grateful to have been rescued; purring and headbutting through some tough stuff. It’s not fair that she has another hurdle, but if anyone can clear it, she can!

dhgParticipantwhat is the current status?
November 29, 2010 at 6:30 pm #709538
justcuzMemberFCAT volunteer here :) Thanks for asking, dhg. I just spoke with hammerhead and she won’t be near a computer for awhile yet, but will be able to give an update on any donations via SSV and her website at that point.

What is known, is that all parties are in agreement that amputation (still scheduled for Tuesday) will be the way to go for Peanut. Cost aside, her break is such that the extended recovery time and potential complications make mechanical repair a more difficult process for her. As I mentioned above, Peanut has a lot of spunk and I suspect that she won’t let one less leg keep her down. She is going to bring a lot of joy to some lucky human’s life.

For those that have already given, thank you; and, of course, contributions are still appreciated, as I’m sure we haven’t completely covered the surgery yet. FCAT’s medical expenses all come out of the same pot, so a hit like this affects spay/neuter, vaccines, etc. too. Every bit helps!

hammerheadParticipantWe have almost reached the goal. She did not have it done today, as planned, I guess 2 emergencies came in. Which is fine, Peanut herself is doing fine.
More updates to come.

Dr.MoxieMemberI wish that I could just take them all in! Peanut looks very similar to our cat Sam, who passed away 3 years ago. Unfortunately we’re already a 2-cat, 1-kid household, and only 1 of the three would be friendly in a way that would be conducive to Peanut’s healing (and it sure isn’t our two-year old daughter!)
I hope that this little girl gets a wonderful forever home!

to the topic, i hope peanut gets whatever she needs. they’re not on this planet very long, and (most of them) deserve all the love they can get from people.

cathywMemberAny news on Peanut?
December 3, 2010 at 2:53 am #709550
hammerheadParticipantPeanut has had her surgery and wanted to thank South Seattle Vet for their reasonable costs to make this happen.
She sends a big THANK YOU to our generous community that has given her a second chance. So generous, that – with some gracious donors – there was a little left in the Peanut Fund to help out another kitty at Friends of the Animals Foundation who was also in need of medical care. If the shoe were on the other foot, we know FAF would do the same for FCAT. So two cats and many big hearts – you guys rock! Peanut may not be feeling like a cover girl yet, but I’ll try to get some photos of her this weekend and we’ll start the search for her forever home. :)
Warmest Regards to ENTIRE COMMUNITY for this effort.

2krazy4wordsParticipantYea for Peanut and Eloise! Thank you everyone – community, SSVC, and Pam for giving Peanut the opportunity in the first place by her ongoing rescue efforts.
And I hope everyone remembers there will be a benefit for FCAT & FAF at the Foster White Gallery in Seattle on December 11. Both FCAT & FAF websites and FB pages have the details.
Please join us for Art, Wine, Cheese, & Chocolate in support a GREAT cause!
