CaduceusMemberIs there somewhere in WestSeattle that is capable of repairing old radios?
My father had this thing forever, I’m assuming from the 80’s. It’s just stopped working since it’s been in storage, neither the outlet cord or the batteries make a difference.
Not sure if the specifics are necessary but I imagine they may be of some use to locate someone who can discover the problem and repair this old radio.
There is no date and the back reads as following (minus the warning of shock etc)
“Sears”
Model NO. 266.22490500
AC 117V 5W 60HZ
DC 6V BATTERY
Made in Hong Kong
It has an antenna, buttons for AM FM TV1 AIR/PBH/WB and TV2
It also has sliding levers for volume, squelch and tone and a knob for station surfing.

KenParticipantI might have one that works but I don’t remember where it is at the moment.. This one is on e-bay
Fixing them is not usually easy or worth the parts. Vast improvements have been made in digital tuning since Sears sold these.
I have repaired them in the past but I had to cannibalize a half dozen similar devices. It really is not worth the time unless you want to teach yourself solid state electronics.
But if you want a shortwave or a multi-band for casual use, there are lots of them around.
If you think you might want a relatively high performance rig, then read this page for help.
Note the new ones don’t have TV bands since those are the FM/ medium wave frequencies that are being phased out.

CaduceusMember! That’s almost a twin of my dad’s.
Only the handle seems to be different.
I just thought it would be neat to get the old radio up and running.
Thanks Ken.
