JVMemberWait a second, I thought these people were just sweet little old ladies?
Here’s the 2 minute trailer…
April 27, 2012 at 5:30 pm #756523
DBPMemberSo what’s your point here, JV? Is there any new info in there? Or is it basically a rehash of stuff you’ve been saying for months now?
(I’ll talk about Andrew Breitbart in a bit, but that can wait.)

JanSParticipantCitizen’s United? Consider the source…
April 27, 2012 at 6:23 pm #756525
JVMemberDBP, this is a trailer for an upcoming documentary that may interest some people. Like JoB who said in the past, “there is no problem with the Occupy Movement.” Yeah Job, no problems at all.
I’m happy that somebody has dug into this group, and their false media image.
JanS, the fact that you’ve attacked the source (twice so far today!) when you disagreed is humorous. No other argument required I guess. Since you don’t seem to have problems with left-wing sources, if that video footage of criminals destroying property came from MSNBC or Moveon.org, would you engage in conversation?
April 27, 2012 at 6:48 pm #756526
Spring ChickenMemberA “documentary” ?? No, it’s a right-wing propaganda flick.
Do you enjoy the sensation of being brainwashed?
Do you also get your “news” from infomercials and the 700 Club?
April 27, 2012 at 7:24 pm #756527
kootchmanMemberThe upcoming documentary is going to be revealing. Of coure JaN won’t watch it. Why destroy “a” truth with “the” truth? Truth has nothing to do with right or wrong. Have you seen as much deception and obfuscation from government as in the last three years? The great teleprompter is like the magic 8 ball… just shake it and some random number will show up. Even in propaganda there has to be a reinforcement of a truth. At worst, Spring Chicken , you will find out why, 40 per cent of Americans self identify as conservative, 20% as liberals, with the fight over the 40% who think for themselves… more or less. Are you better off today than you were four years ago?
April 27, 2012 at 7:33 pm #756528
DBPMemberWell JV . . . if your point is that we shouldn’t “attack the source,” then this particular trailer/video might not be the best way to get that idea across, since what the film makers are apparently trying to do is discredit the “source” of the whole Occupy movement.
I must say that the outlook on that is not promising, either. Showing footage of punks throwing trash cans while media left-wing pundits jabber on about the Tea Party doesn’t constitute investigative journalism in my opinion.
But for the good of the debate, I’m still willing to engage on this . . .
As a matter of fact, I agree that the left-leaning media fanned the flames of the Occupy movement — just as the right-leaning media fanned the flames of the Tea Party. But that should not come as a surprise to anyone. And besides that, what good does it do us to know that information, exactly? Answer: None.
Look, if you want to understand the real meaning of phenomena like the Tea Party and the Occupy Movement, you don’t merely ask, Who started all this fuss? —and leave it at that. No. You dig deeper and ask yourself, How could so much anger have built up for so long without finding an outlet?
Screw the Koch Brothers; screw Keith Olberman. I say that the Tea Partiers’ anger was REAL and that we should be working to understand and address it. Same for the Occupy movement. It was real, too.
Do you want to get together and figure out what happened? Or would you rather keep talking about some trash-talking, poop-dumping punks?
I know what you’re thinking, Did he dump six cans of poop or only five?
Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excrement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is an Olde English “40,” the largest bottle of malt liquor in the world, and would blow your nose clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel drinky?
Well, do ya, drunk?
April 27, 2012 at 7:35 pm #756529
Spring ChickenMember“even in propaganda there has to be a reinforcement of the truth”
HUH??
Mr. K, what can you possibly mean by this latest bit of incoherent babbling
April 27, 2012 at 9:17 pm #756530
JVMemberDBP, I appreciate the Dirty Harry reference!
But to make the point that the Tea Party is anything like the Occupy Movement is ridiculous. There are very few parallels, but in most areas they are complete opposites.
Am I interested in where they came from? Sure, but I’m more interested in their results and what they left in their wake.
Their objective was______________.
The end result was_______________.
April 27, 2012 at 10:58 pm #756531
DBPMember>>But to make the point that the Tea Party is anything like the Occupy Movement is ridiculous. There are very few parallels, but in most areas they are complete opposites.
I find it kind of suprising to hear you say that. In fact, I would say your take on this puts you at odds with the people who made the clip.
Supposedly it’s a film about the Occupy movement, but I couldn’t help noticing all the references to the Tea Party in it. (And that’s just in the trailer.)
No, I think what’s going on here is that the film makers were so pissed off about liberals claiming that the Tea Party was just a figment of the Koch Brothers’ imagination that they decided to do a similar exposé on Occupy. As I was watching this thing, I felt like they were saying: Oh yeah? Well if you guys are gonna air out our dirty laundry, we’re gonna air out yours.
************************************************************************************
Their objective was: To make government more accountable.
The end result was: Lots of media attention, and some modest changes.
True, the two groups’ specific demands (such as they were) were very different, but the lessons learned at the end of the day were quite similar, namely: http://tinyurl.com/7rbj6xx

JanSParticipantJV…understand this. We all know that there are less than desirables that have taken a home in some Occupy places. We all also know that it doesn’t color the whole movement. But…you are suggesting it does. Citizens United, aka the Koch brothers, have an agenda. They will only give you one side. If move on.com, or other reliable news source came out with some of this, I would disagree with the people doing it, but not the movement itself. I personally feel that violence of any kind in any demonstration is wrong.
April 27, 2012 at 11:07 pm #756533
JanSParticipantKootch..you keep asking if I am better of than I was 4 years ago. My life is richer by far today than it was then…is that what you mean? Or are you just talking money? That’s remained the same.
April 28, 2012 at 12:11 am #756534
dhgParticipantLiberal media? There is almost no such thing as liberal media. There is the fairly conservative media such as msnbc, cnn, cbs, nbc and abc. In print, the NY Times is not liberal, it is simply objective, which is something that Fox nut jobs would see as liberal. Anything that criticizes the right is regarded as liberal. The job of the press is to evaluate and criticize every politician. You get that with most media sources. Except Fox. On Fox you get nothing but brown nosed Republifans.
April 28, 2012 at 2:49 am #756535
JoBParticipantdhg..
there is a liberal media..
you can find it on LINK TV
and you should hear what they have to say about Citizens United
JV
ROFLOL
i had no idea you were so interested in fairy tails
and no.. i didn’t misspell fairy tails ;-0
April 28, 2012 at 3:45 am #756536
JVMemberdhg, it must be nice to live in your world. Sweet little fluffy kittens that look up to you and don’t question your insane statements. That’s super.
Most people understand that Fox News is on the right, MSNBC is on the left, and the others tilt left but not as shamelessly. If you understand that, then read/watch both sides, you can form an educated opinion.
If you think Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz, Al Sharpton, Chris Matthews, Lawrence O’Donnell and the other “journalists” at MSNBC are fairly conservative, then your compass is broken. The only people further left are Bill Ayers, Bernie Sanders and Mao!
Please help me understand who you’d consider acceptable and who is “progressive/liberal/socialist” enough for your liking. Who most closely represents your point of view?
April 28, 2012 at 5:53 am #756537
dhgParticipantGeorge McGovern, Hubert Humphrey, John Kennedy, Bernie Sanders are the ones I admire. Their aspirations were/are to help lift the common man, to work for the common good. Mitt’s attitude is one of “I’ve got mine, if you don’t, tough”. Like Herbert Caine said, “if you’re not rich, it’s your own fault”. You may agree with that but I find it repugnant. Msnbc has employed a couple of lefties but that doesn’t skew their news reports. At Fox they live only for trashing the dems and kissing Repub butt.
April 28, 2012 at 6:03 am #756538
kootchmanMemberSpring Chicken read a bit… I suggest Goebbels… take a common truth.. generally accepted… and build your story around that. Too complicated to understand… simpler words help? We gravitate towards :”truths” aka pre-conceived notions .. and respond to “news” that reinforces that belief. You build on prejudice, never try to create it.
Like the 1% ……
“If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth. ”
― Joseph Goebbels
“It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle.
― Joseph Goebbels
(and Obama does know and understands the understanding of “his” people)
“The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it.”
― Joseph Goebbels, Die Tagebücher des Doktor Josef Göbbels. Geschichte & Vermarktung
“Think of the press as a great keyboard
on which the government can play.”
― Joseph Goebbels

JVMemberDhg, I appreciate you answering the question honestly, and i give Bernie Sanders credit for honestly identifying as a Socialist. (his own description, not mine)
Can you name anybody that is any further to the left than Bernie Sanders?
April 28, 2012 at 6:48 am #756540
JanSParticipantGoebbels? Seriously? with a tad of sarcasm thrown in for you, too, Spring Chicken…welcome to the club…
April 28, 2012 at 2:45 pm #756541
redblackParticipantdhg is right. of course the presenters are liberal. but the ownership and management is three things:
rich, conservative, and corporate.
the presenters are liberal because msnbc’s leadership saw it as a strategy to counter fox’s ratings.
but msnbc’s presenters and their stories pass the sniff test, whereas fox’s do not. i challenge you to watch the rachel maddow show and cite me a an out-and-out lie or an opinion that’s stated as fact.
ed schultz? yeah, he gets bombastic, but the charts and graphs he presents don’t lie, and they’re not subjective.
kootch: and if you repeat a lie often enough to the UN security council it becomes the truth – and a war!
April 28, 2012 at 3:27 pm #756542
JoBParticipantJV..
spend an hour listening to Amy Goodman
and then tell me how liberal Rachel Maddow is
LOL.. if you actually spend the hour you might learn something
or .. you could just ask your aunt Jan
I don’t know if she watches Amy
but if she doesn’t i am willing to bet she would appreciate the heads up from you ;->
this is left leaning newsperson
and.. as much as you might not like what she has to say
you will be hard pressed to catch her in a lie
April 28, 2012 at 4:27 pm #756543
dhgParticipantStudies have shown that those who watch fox news know less than those who watch no news. You can’t learn anything useful from an organization that routinely lies. Example: recent high gas prices led fox to blame Obama for not allowing sufficient drilling. They keep hammering on how it is his fault. But the truth is: more leases have been handed out in the past 3yrs than Bush did. Even more interesting though is that prices were high during Bush’s term and Fox went to great lengths to explain how a sitting President cannot possibly affect the price of oil. Bill o’reilly, using the tone of voice that tells you nothing could be clearer, said it was an obvious fact. Now he says the opposite. And you listen. And you think you are learning something.
April 28, 2012 at 4:45 pm #756544
Spring ChickenMemberKootchman #5,8,15 if you are suggesting I follow your example and read Nazi propaganda you just made my point. You sound negative, angry and bitter, but you also say you have a good life. I think you have poisoned your mind with trashy propaganda made by Limbaugh and Fox News, programs just like this movie OP. Sure they can find something messy or unpleasant to film among the thousands of Occupy participants at hundreds of locations over a year, but their cameras are narrowly focused to screen out all the good stuff that happened too! It’s deliberately engineered to provoke exactly those negative emotions, slanted to show only their side, no attempt to take everything in to document what really happened so as to honestly inform the audience!
Garbage in, garbage out, soon you have a trashy mind. Don’t you feel angry with yourself for letting them tell you what to think, having your thoughts be manipulated by propaganda that was invented just to sell advertising? You seem like a bright guy, Kootch? Why let yourself be fooled and brainwashed! “Obama bad!” “Tax cuts good!” Try to look beyond the slogans, real life is never so cut and dried! You can’t even write a coherent convincing argument for that perspective, because it it’s not based on facts! See what they’re doing to you man, it’s killin ya spirit!
Why would anyone voluntarily watch a movie made by Citizen’s United, feed your mind even more bias and lies to distort your thought process?
Since you advised me to read I will return the favor: Turn off your TV and talk radio all weekend, ride bikes with the critter, take the lucky Mrs. K out to hear live music, enjoy a good meal, GET LAID and use A CONDOM! (paid for by yourself of course… lolol)
I’ll bet you discover that YOUR LIFE too is better now than it was four years ago :) Put some fair and balanced reality back in perspective, before it’s too late and you are stuck forever as this miserable bigoted grumpy old Archie Bunker!
April 28, 2012 at 5:12 pm #756545
JVMemberJoB, I’ve never heard of Amy Goodman, but I often tune in to Stephanie Miller (she’s funny), Tom Hartman, Shultz for about a minute at a time, Norman Goldman, and then if I’m in the car late, I’ll listen to Mike Malloy. He is a complete ass. An angry, bitter little man.
I only tell you this because I DO listen to the left intentionally.
Do you listen to/watch anybody on the right?
April 28, 2012 at 6:08 pm #756546
JanSParticipantSpringChicken…I knew there was a reason I like you :D
