JVMemberJobs, net jobs, seasonally adjusted Unemployment rate…all designed to hide this fact:
What has been the net effect? During this administration, the proportion of the working age population that has a job has fallen to the lowest level in decades.

dobroParticipantThink that might have anything to do with major outsourcing of jobs (2.5 million) to other countries by vulture capitalists like Mittens Rmoney?
July 12, 2012 at 7:42 pm #763548
SmittyParticipantDidn’t your hear? It’s not his fault!

dobroParticipantThe American people seem to agree that its not his fault. At least not enough to elect Mittens…the latest PEW poll…

Plus, I will take a poll of “likely” voters over “registered” voters any day. Typical KoS cherry pick.

megMemberU-6 is at 14.9%:
http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2012/07/06/broader-jobless-rate-ticks-up-to-14-9/
Apparently, with the UNEMPLOYMENT number, there’s no need to keep track of frustrated citizens who run out of unemployment benefits and keep looking on their own, settle for part-time when they’d rather be full-time, or altogether lose their fragile hold on participation in the labor force and drop outta sight.
Hey, I’m not saying government should provide programs to fix things. I’m just saying, report the Truth. U-6 is the Unemployment number and not that other farcical one which is more in line with Washington puppetry shows.
July 12, 2012 at 8:14 pm #763552
SmittyParticipantdobro is right though in that Obama is the favorite this Fall. All these bad numbers continuing to get worse and his polling remains flat.
Above 8% unemployment and an anemic “recovery” are already baked into the numbers. If Romney doesn’t pull ahead in the next 30 days he probably never will.
July 12, 2012 at 9:46 pm #763553
JVMemberI disagree Smitty.
1) people will say they are for Obama because they don’t want to be called racist, then vote Romney. (8+%doesnt have to be the new normal)
2) watch for a bump when the VP is named. Especially if it’s Marco Rubio. Imagine a Rubio vs Biden debate!!
3) also wait till the mainstream media is forced to cover Fast and Furious.
July 12, 2012 at 10:28 pm #763554
JanSParticipantthis “racist” thing has gotten out of hand….
what id we just believe that Romney would not be good in the position ?
and..a candidate not running on any specific ideas for this country, except dishing the dirt on the other candidate (i.e., I’m not Obama)really is a big turn off for a lot of us. I truly wish there was more substance from the right. Truly, some of us would like to think that we could be swayed if the answers were that good.
But then..we all know about campaign promises, as you all keep reminding people…be careful what you wish for. If it was that was to simply get in there and do what you say EVERY TIME, don’t you think it would’ve been done?
July 12, 2012 at 10:49 pm #763555
megMemberAre you getting sick of the bullshit, yet?
Check it, your elected representatives don’t read bills before voting on em. WTF?
This guy just made a documentary about it and he’s trying to get our attention and have us understand what’s happening. He has started a petition that tells them to “READ the BILLS” before voting and enacting new laws. Yep, no shit. How weird is it they massively don’t know what’s in the bills they vote on??

The petition:

SmittyParticipant“Hope and Change” seemed to work pretty well, so I am happy with “I’m not Obama”, all things considered.
That said, apparently Romney needs to narrow down his 59 point plan on how to fix the economy since it is about 50 too many for the media to report.
July 13, 2012 at 12:54 am #763557
kootchmanMemberSome of you could never be swayed.. you are in the “write em’ off” column. 59 points is too many… and the 9 points he would have to make would have to be an entitlement. The number that counts is who turns out the base. Cut it any way ya want, the majority of Americans do not think he is up to the job. Lower taxes, cut spending, tax reform. Those three will work for me.
July 13, 2012 at 1:39 am #763558
jamminjMember“3) also wait till the mainstream media is forced to cover Fast and Furious.”
you mean how they asked those ‘tough’ questions during the Iraq war?
July 13, 2012 at 2:31 am #763559
megMemberI’d vote for someone who would:
1. Stop the federal govt. from increasing control over individuals’ lives and choices, both in the US and worldwide.
2. Hand authority to the states to control their own.
3. Balance the budget immediately, slashing taxes and spending.
July 13, 2012 at 3:03 am #763560
kootchmanMemberYea.. but miracles overnight don’t happen… a shift in that direction is better than what we have now. One of em’ will be the winner… it’s Romney or Obama… we know the latter and his penchant for absolute control.
July 13, 2012 at 3:16 am #763561
JoBParticipantJV..
“Imagine a Rubio vs Biden debate!!”
i have to agree that would be a spectacle..
but i don’t think it would turn out quite the way you think it would.
July 13, 2012 at 3:19 am #763562
JoBParticipantkootch..
i jsut saw some actual stats on your mantra
“Lower taxes, cut spending, tax reform”
taxes are lower under Obama than they have been for decades
Obama’s spending is lower than presidential spending has been for decades
but…
we can agree on tax reform
not that flat tax with too many exceptions for money that isn’t wages
but still.. reform
July 13, 2012 at 6:01 pm #763563
JVMemberJoB,
What is your source for this whopper?
“Obama’s spending is lower than presidential spending has been for decades”
Surely the work of a solid, honest, nonpartisan mathematician.
July 13, 2012 at 6:22 pm #763564
jamminjMember“What is your source for this whopper?”
you know, that commie rag called Forbes.
July 13, 2012 at 8:03 pm #763565
kootchmanMemberTaxing money that has been taxed? Never. I paid income tax on dividends, salary, commissions, retainers, .. what was left over I invested some in companies. Capital gains is double taxation. Given that logic… you should be taxed, and excise tax on your furniture, cars, lawn mowers, … anything of value you acquired and now own after your income taxes from salary. Say 20%?
July 13, 2012 at 8:05 pm #763566
kootchmanMemberRasmussen says no. The election will be decided on decision day… with those uncommitted going.. what the heck… it sucks and can’t get much worse… let’s give the Mormon a spin… Let’s see what the October and November unemployment numbers look like… and as meg so ably states U6. The House stays Republican, the Senate goes Republican… and the WH is up in the air.
July 13, 2012 at 10:24 pm #763567
JVMemberJammin, your link was debunked by for using the same fake math Obama uses in job numbers
federal spending under the Obama administration has been at historic highs, consuming 24 percent of the economy, on average, compared to around 20 percent under George Bush, and 20 percent or less in most years since the end of World War II. (That percentage holds true even if you blame Bush for the record spending in 2009 after he left office, which is somewhat misleading). In 2011, the federal budget reached $3.6 trillion, compared to $2.9 trillion in 2008.
All the links and footnotes show where their numbers came from, and what they didn’t include.
Fuzzy math = lying to us, which pisses people off…but it probably doesn’t bother you.
Next.

kootchmanMemberAnother profile of a blue state….. joining California, Ill, NY … how are they going to pick up the tab for Obamacare? All the CBO quotes from the left… how;s this one… Obamacare was going to increase taxes.. 910 billion.. then 1.7 trillion, and NOW… 2.4 trillion. Where does the left think this money is coming from?
In another setback for organized labor, Detroit’s financial advisory board has approved a plan to cut $100 million from its unionized workforce without negotiating with union leaders.
The plan offered by Mayor Dave Bing incudes a 10 percent pay cut and limits on overtime pay, according to a report Friday in the Detroit Free Press.
It also would impose higher healthcare costs on workers, by increasing co-pays for doctor visits and prescription drugs. Even more cuts expected later on, the Free Press reported, including an end to retiree vision and dental coverage in 2013.
Read more on Newsmax.com: Detroit Board Moves to Cut Pay of Union Workforce. Tell what is going to happen… every blue state, muni, is going to throw their workers in the health care pool… to survive. See what happens to overtaxed states? The middle class, flees. Leaving behind the poor and civil servants… it’s not a good combo.
July 13, 2012 at 11:49 pm #763569
kootchmanMemberhey redblack
What does all this mean politically? Obama clearly believes that class warfare is a winner. But when Mitch McConnell asked the Senate to vote on Obama’s tax-increase plan this week, he was rebuffed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid mere days after the president claimed that his plan is a vital piece of the recovery.
Raising 80 billion… and adding 3.7 trillion in spending… that’s his recovery plan.
July 15, 2012 at 7:09 pm #763570
redblackParticipantciting an opinion columnist? you can do better than that, kootch.
“Under my plan, 97 percent of small business owners would avoid getting hit with any income tax hike whatsoever. In fact, I’ve cut taxes for small businesses eighteen times since I’ve been president. And just this week, I ordered a series of new steps to help our small businesses grow and hire,” Obama said.

so what’s the republican recovery plan? cut taxes and screw the government’s budget even further? default on debt interest? cut government services to the poor and to seniors? put government workers on the dole?
a couple of days ago, meg said that cutting taxes and spending was one of her priorities. but if you guys are right, assuming that she’s not in the top 1 or 2%, odds are about even that she is one of the 49% who pay no federal taxes. right?
is that a fair assumption, meg? i.e. are you in the bottom 50%, and do you want your taxes cut further?
so what services or programs do you want to see cut from the federal budget?
are you voting for those tax cheats at the bottom of the scale to get even bigger refunds from the government? or is this that tired old “tax the poor more, tax the rich less” flat tax argument?
