Nobody who’s involved in this has joined the forum since the last time I had to make this statement, so I am sorry that some participants don’t respect the rules enough to follow them.

I have just deleted one entire thread that is about the people here. These forums are FOR the people who participate in them, not ABOUT the people who participate in them. I will now spend the next several hours going as far back as I can to root out the various posts that have led to various complaints.

Aside from these periodic squabbles, these forums are a great place. There is no other neighborhood news site in town that has active forums with people reaching out to discuss real issues and extend real help to each other. That’s what we started these for. And those discussions still make up the bulk of what people come here to read and participate in.

I have hired a technical consultant for an upcoming major change which should also include various forum features such as “report this post” and “ignore this user.” Until then, this is the last warning and I will delete, as we reserve the right to, anything and everything that we judge to violate the rules.

Speaking of which, some have complained the rules don’t seem to be applied equally. Guess that’s a subjective judgment on their part as well — as I have said publicly, repeatedly, it would be easier to have NO rules – rather than rules which are not black/white – and just let this completely go into the sewer like various other sites’ forums and comments. Not gonna do that. But if you WANT to fight and squabble, there are many other places you can do that.

Thanks in advance to those who DO respect the rules and the fact that we work close to 24/7 on this site and need to spend as much of that time as possible gathering and reporting the West Seattle news you don’t get in real-time anywhere else.
