Looking at moving to North Delridge. From my research, looks like there was a really bad spurt of shootings around May that got a lot of attention from local leadership/police, and haven’t seen much negativity on the forums since then. Looks like a lot of development, great location, close to shops and infrastructure/parks, but curious just how bad is it safety wise? Not too concerned about the occasional package theft- we live in interbay near the bridge currently and while it’s objectively nicer than most of Seattle, we’ve had prowlers, campers, etc. in the area for the last couple of years. Not sure how overblown or under reported the “gang violence” and shootings are before moving to the area. Appreciate your time and advice!

Crime and violence in the Delridge area is always a problem. It is not overblown. The reason housing is more affordable is because of the ongoing crime and violence. Don’t discount it or try to convince yourself it’s not as bad as they say. If you’re looking for less expensive than West Seattle you might want to consider Beacon Hill or Burien.
