missaudreyhorneParticipantHi friends! My good friend Pana and I have started an interesting new blog that you should very seriously check out! It is called Seattle Neighborhood Watch and it is all about our adventures in all the different and interesting neighborhoods that Seattle has to offer. We’ll be checking out local restaurants, parks, museums and other neighborhood attractions. We are tourists in our own city. CHECK IT OUT!!!
We both live in the Admiral District in West Seattle, but felt like we wanted to get out more and venture around to see what the city had to offer, while sharing our experiences. We do plan to do different parts of West Seattle eventually, but first we’re trying to branch out a bit.
This week features Greenwood, and we ask such questions as “Should Pluto be a planet?” and “How many stuffed peppers can one eat before getting sick?” No really, it is entertaining, I promise. This week’s blog was written by Pana, next week I’ll be chronicling our travels to Wallingford.
Bookmark it, you won’t regret it.

flowerpetalMemberI got there by clicking on missaudreyhorne above, which took me to her page and from there I could go to her neighborhood travel blog. I admire your dedication to the writing and of course, the fun!

JoBParticipantflowerpetal.. thank you!
it was as entertaining as it sounds.. and gave me at least three great places to go try…
for those challenged like me.. i nearly didn’t find it even with flowerpetal’s help because of the sheer abundance of stuff on her website…
http://seattleneighborhoodwatch.blogspot.com/
i can’t wait to hear what they say about west settle…
perhaps i should do something similar for those of us with more refine (NOT) tastes… just a differing viewpoint:)
March 20, 2008 at 6:43 pm #619202
missaudreyhorneParticipantThanks to flowerpetal and JoB for the link. I don’t know why mine didn’t work. I am not quite html literate. (also Jo, it was QUITE nice meeting you the other day at the handbag event! I am JanS’s daughter.)
I’m glad you guys enjoyed it. We are looking forward to more posts and perhaps even guest bloggers once we get this thing really going. It WOULD be nice to get other viewpoints, wouldn’t it?
I know so much about West Seattle from growing up here, but I think it would be interesting to do certain areas like Alki, White Center, The Junction, etc. So be on the lookout for those, and I’ll definitely update here when we do them!

missaudreyhorneParticipantYes, thanks WSB for putting up our link on your list. I am planning on linking here as well. I also hope to get on a few more lists.

AnonymousInactiveYour first entry was hysterical! Can’t wait to go check out the beer store and I don’t even like beer.
Thanks for sharing.

WSBKeymasterAud, you may be three steps ahead of this already but as you add neighborhood features, you can hit up the appropriate neighborhood sites – the best ones in the city are on Capitol Hill (Capitol Hill Seattle,
Ballard,
Central District,
http://centraldistrictnews.com
Georgetown/South Park
and Belltown
just for starters)
March 20, 2008 at 11:49 pm #619208
JanSParticipantyou guys are the best…thanks, LB, for sharing, and posting their site. I loved the first edition, but, of course, had heard it all in person. Almost makes you want to go out and protest for Pluto, huh…
March 21, 2008 at 12:29 am #619209
missaudreyhorneParticipantOh, thank you lowmanbeach! I had the Capitol Hill one in my queue for getting an email, but not the others. Georgetown will be especially good to read because I’d like to go there soon, and I don’t really know much of anything about it other than it is really gaining some notoriety lately and sounds like a really fun place.
I’m so excited about this, can’t wait to get the next blog up!

JenVMemberway to go, ladies! very funny stuff. let me know when you do Georgetown- my second fave neighborhood….
March 21, 2008 at 3:56 am #619211
charlabobParticipantThis is great stuff! Seriously makes me want to cross the bridge. I’m making a list :-)
March 21, 2008 at 4:50 am #619212
missaudreyhorneParticipantAww, it is so nice to have a warm reception here. I made the mistake of posting on yelp and well, let’s just say they are scary.
Jen- I will definitely let you know when we do Georgetown and get some tips. I hear a LOT of great things about it, so I am looking forward to it.
I must say though, I am really looking forward to Wallingford. Two words – Trophy Cupcakes.

katydidMemberMy niece has a studio, sort of in Georgetown…is an functional steel welder. Mimi also works in fused glass and teaches classes which have become very popular. Check her out at http://www.mimiriley.com. She was featured in Sunset magazine last fall. Everybody loves Mimi!
March 21, 2008 at 7:57 pm #619214
katydidMemberOh yeah, forgot Mimi’s art is up in the WS Foodbank. Also she won some Starbuck’s competition here locally last year with a bench (for a park??) and just finished railings etc…..long ones….for a children’s area at a hospital back east. She’s good…course she is my niece. :)
March 27, 2008 at 2:13 pm #619215
missaudreyhorneParticipantIf anyone is interested, I have the Wallingford blog up that I wrote finally. I had some “technical difficulties” (aka blogger is my enemy), but it looks good now hopefully!
March 27, 2008 at 2:27 pm #619216
JoBParticipanti think i had a better time in wallingford than you did:)
March 27, 2008 at 4:03 pm #619217
missaudreyhorneParticipantI know, I’m sad. I think we’re going to need to do a return trip at some point. The plan is to do return trips after a while based solely on reader recommendations.
