SJoyParticipantI’m in the Admiral area and we are looking at getting rid of our Comcast bundle (TV, Internet, landline) and just getting internet. Before I do this I wanted to check to see if there are any other carriers that have great internet in the area.

dhgParticipantSo far as I know, you have just two choices: Comcast or Clink. You will find several threads on this site describing just how bad Century Link service has become. Comcast is the better choice. I recommend dropping the land line and opting for their cheapest version of broadband.

aaParticipantIf you or anyone else reading this qualifies as low income- collecting unemployment, receives food stamps or other assistance, on Medicaid/Medicare etc. You probably will qualify for a great internet deal that will cost you only $10/month. Take a look at http://www.interconnection.org
I have a hotspot through them, Sprint carrier and it works great!

ChemistParticipantI’m going to dissent with Comcast being the better choice. There have been outages with both services, sure (although my Comcast TV has gone out while my Centurylink internet keeps ticking). I also had a frustrating fiber install experience with Centurylink where appointments kept getting pushed back and it took me a while to figure out the appropriate vlan settings to get rid of the “modem rental”.
At the same time, I’ve got internet-only Centurylink’s 40 mbit service for $36.94 this month and for the next ~two years. Except for youtube taking longer to buffer before playing, I’m happy with this price point.
