CountingCoupMemberTuesday Night Showdown?
Ok, I am thinking there will be limited drinking games tonight. But seriously, how many times do you think McCain is going to say “Win in Iraq” (and what does that really mean?) or “Surrender”. Hehhhh–Hehhhh–Hehhhh…
McCain and Sarah Palin are “Mavericks” on a race course of Ferrari’s and Tesla’s. And they are being left behind, far far behind in the race to the white-house with only dirty linen smear tactics.
As much as McCain wants to avoid the subject of our nations economy, the current situations will force the subject, and hopefully dialog on the real problems and crisis our nation is experiencing.
Time to leave flag-pins, casting doubt, perceived patriotism, fear, at the door and time to discuss the real issues the American people are interested in…
Let the games begin
once again…October 7, 2008 at 2:46 pm #642570
JohnMMemberYay. A new McCain/Palin bashing thread begins. I’m so excited.
October 7, 2008 at 5:21 pm #642571
RainyDay1235MemberNow now….
I am really looking forward to this one. Each side has had a chance to step back, review the first one, wrap their heads around the financial crisis, see how their VPs performed etc.
My bet is that Obama will be more forceful, and McCain will try to appear more down-to-earth. Unfortauntely, in a town-hall format, Obama’s job will be harder.
While it seems the McCain camp wants to “turn the page” on the financial crisis (it’s still around right?) I am curious to see if he skirts it completely. Really not happy about the negative campaigns lately – on either side. But again, the Keating scandal seems far less of a reach then Ayers.
Anyway, excited for the Town Hall format. Bring it on!

villagegreenMemberJohnM – me too!! It should be great fun!
If you’re concerned about facts being spread about McCain in this thread, please feel free to spread facts about Obama during tonite’s debate.
Taking a cue from McCain’s current tactics, I’ll start things off: Obama’s a terrorist, his middle name is ‘Hussein’, he’s never accomplished anything, he’s dangerous, and he’s not like ‘us’.
Anything more you’d like to add?
October 7, 2008 at 5:31 pm #642573
CPMemberMan… Keith Olberman was on FIRE last night about just those same issues. Same with Rachel Maddow… did anyone see that? I think I felt my hair blow back.
October 7, 2008 at 5:41 pm #642574
AlkiDebbieParticipantI don’t know why we keep bashing Mccain/glorifying Obama. Everyone knows Obama is going to win. All he has to do is win New Hampshire. Washington State is so blue its going to turn purple one of these days.
October 7, 2008 at 6:01 pm #642575
JohnMMemberVg — you mis-spoke. he is not a terrorist….he’s a muslim terrorist.
Alkidebbie — hence the color of the WS-demo-Blog.
October 7, 2008 at 6:18 pm #642576
CPMemberOh Christ… if I hear “muslim terrorist” one more time I’m going to be sick. JohnM, I hope I hear sarcasm.
October 7, 2008 at 6:21 pm #642577
AnonymousInactiveWashington state has actually been in the *leaning blue* column until just the past week. Seattle is blue. The rest of the state is not and they almost cancel each other out, making us a near toss up state sometimes.
October 7, 2008 at 7:19 pm #642578
JohnMMemberCP…Yes, it was total sarcasm. As was my original post (#2)…..
I don’t believe any of the mud either candidate is slinging.
October 7, 2008 at 7:37 pm #642579
CPMemberThank GOD! You never know… :)
I hate the mudslinging. If I want to watch that garbage I’ll turn on Survivor or The Real World. I want the facts, “gosh darn it”.

addParticipantThis not about the upcoming debate, per se, but I’m in England right now, reading The Times, and here is a snippet of an article about the election that got me livid!!!
“At a rally in Albuquerque Mr McCain branded his opponent as a “Chicago politician” – a phrase redolent with corruption – as he asked: “Who is the real Senator Obama?” He said: “Senator Obama has accused me of opposing regulation. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed.”
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black??!! I can’t believe he had the audacity to say that. I am truly disgusted.
October 7, 2008 at 9:41 pm #642581
RainyDay1235MemberSorry, wasn’t ‘opposing regulation’ the whole idea behind the GOP up until a week ago? I’m confused…
October 7, 2008 at 9:53 pm #642582
addParticipantRainyDay – you are so right! I was indignant over the phrase, ‘I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed.” – that’s bad enough, but your point is right on as well. I can hardly stand this, and we have another month to go!
October 7, 2008 at 10:06 pm #642583
flipjackParticipantMccain/Palin suck.
October 7, 2008 at 11:29 pm #642584
CountingCoupMemberThe format will be interesting tonight with the town hall format, does anyone know if the candidates are able to ask each other questions or will all of the questions be posed from the audience members? What is the moderators role?
October 8, 2008 at 1:33 am #642585
TammiWSMemberObama simply ANSWERS the questions. McCain continues to reiterate the talking points, regardless of the question…Its pathetic.
I love how Obama tells it like it is – we’ll all have to buck up, it wont be easy, and we’ll have to set priorities….and treats everyone like intelligent citizens. His CNN satis. meter is consistently high this evening….

HunterGParticipantOctober 8, 2008 at 1:46 am #642587
IBMMemberObama is doing great! Mccain and Palin dont have a chance.
October 8, 2008 at 1:56 am #642588
HunterGParticipantIs McCain really trying to bribe the public for votes?
$5K tax credit per child? Who wants to bet me it won’t happen?
October 8, 2008 at 1:59 am #642589
LucyMemberMcCain going back to these talking points is disgusting. Politics as usual during a time of crisis. No thanks.
I don’t need to hear about how you are a maverick. I don’t need to be reminded that you served our country. I need to know how you are going to fix the mess that is this country.
October 8, 2008 at 2:02 am #642590
HunterGParticipantHe looks like he is on his deathbed. Shoot he just might drop dead on the debate floor.
That would be one way to get him to keep within the time constraints.
October 8, 2008 at 2:07 am #642591
MrJTMemberGrandpa sure ain’t got the spunk that his perky little sidekick does.
October 8, 2008 at 2:42 am #642592
KenParticipantAren’t cars battery powered already?
no.
Only those hybrids that have a conversion kit that cost more than the car at the moment. There are less than 10k of those also. (google plug in hybrid)
I had an electric car once. It used golf cart batteries wired in series at 24 and 48 volt banks. It was lost in a snow related barn collapse.
It was slow off the mark and cornered like a bathtub perched on stepladders..
October 8, 2008 at 2:47 am #642593
CountingCoupMemberYawn… The format didn’t allow questions to move into the next level of details. All of the information that was spewed had been already discussed and debated before.
I hope the next debate allows the candidates to ask each other questions.
All in all, Obama looked presidential and gave much more detail in his answers as he has in the past, but it was more of the same information we all have already heard. IMO
