JiggersMemberI had to laugh watching the Ms fans cheer for the other player on the other team. You think RedSox or Yankee fans would care if your azz was traded? They’d boo the hell out of you. I’m confused too so there you go.

DBPMemberMariners fans got some heart. And Ichiro deserves the applause. He’s got heart, too.
Heart: A rare thing to see in a superstar athlete these days. Or maybe the guy just hasn’t been in the country long enough.

sweetflutterby41MemberI made a light bat when I was in 5th grade. :-)
And I can speak from experience that the Mariners have some of the nicest players out there.

sbreParticipantThis Mariner fan was not standing and applauding the Yankee in right field or at the plate on that day, he has standing and applauding one of the greatest players of all-time in the history of baseball.
A man who has shown kids in Seattle and all around the world how hard work and good preparation can allow you to accomplish monumental feats.
Regardless of the color of jersey on someone back, if they are a true asset to their sport, teach our young ones to work hard and do the right thing, then their going to get a standing-O from me, however when it comes to A-Rod and the like, I will stand and show them my back side. (even though most that know me will say it’s my best side!)

oldgrayboarderParticipantAs a Red Sox fan by birth, and Mariners fan since moving here in 1998, I am going to do something that will certainly cause my grandmother to spin in her grave: root for the Yankees to win the World Series. I am most certainly not becoming a Yankees fan, but I can think of no better player from a etermally bad team who deserves to wear a WS ring than Ichiro. (Except perhaps Ernie Banks of the Chicago Cubs).

JiggersMemberThe Yankees are making moves to try and win another World Series while we are still trying to find out what the M stands for in M.L.B means..

JKBParticipantAwful lot of BlueJays jerseys walking down toward the stadium tonight. What’s up with that?
I understand about Red Sox Nation, and how the Hated Yankees have fans everywhere. But Toronto?

sweetflutterby41MemberWith just a couple baseball teams to root for, a lot of Canadians come down to see the games.

sbreParticipantThis is Torontos only visit to Seattle this season AND the Blue Jays tend to draw a decent fan base from the home crowd. (travelers to watch the games)

JanSParticipantMariner fans are not confused, I’ve decided. They are true fans. You’re not just right when the team is winning…you stick with them when they’re losing, because they are YOUR team. No fickle fairweather fans here…or are there?

JKBParticipantmmm, bluejays are tasty.

HMC RichParticipant8-2 homestand. The kids are starting to grow up a bit.
Jays fans were more obnoxious than the Yankee and BoSox fans. Who knew Canadiens were jerks… Wait, what happened two years ago when the Canucks lost to the Bruins.
And they clogged our streets. Thanks for the extra tax revenue.

HMC RichParticipantSorry, but I like A-Rod. He played out his final year on his contract with us. The Rangers threw STUPID money at him. When businesses or teams throw that much money at you, I bet none of you would have turned it down. He is a great player. He is not a rocket scientist. He did not asked to be traded. I wish Ichiro the best. Too bad the Mariners did not win a World Series with him.

JiggersMember8-2 stand Rich yes… They aren’t kids either. The M’s beat up on KC a team with the worst pitching in the league, and well, Toronto who is also is in last place. That isn’t really an indicative sign of an improving ball club if you ask me. It just shows they are the best losing last place team in the American League that’s all. Seattle fans are happy with just that though..

sbreParticipantRich~
My gripe with A-Roid, err, A-Rod is his use of the performance enhancing drugs.
I generally don’t have an issue with a player chasing Dead Presidents as I am very much in favor of our capitalistic way of life, however to stoop to cheating to better yourself, BAD, VERY BAD!!!
Especially since he was such a big name and a bright shinning star when he started, how many kids did he wrongly influence?
I admire his natural talents, it’s a beautiful thing to watch him at his craft but because of the pharmaceuticals he’ll always get my back-side!!!
August 2, 2012 at 5:38 pm #765300
OrobMemberJiggers, I’ll assume you do not consider yourself a “seattle fan”?
August 2, 2012 at 6:01 pm #765301
HMC RichParticipantThe performance enhancing drugs certainly are a pox on all of the players who took them. If I remember, A-Rod may have admitted that he took them and finally quit. I still admire Sosa, McGwire, and Clemons and I understand what they did. It tarnishes them and baseball. I am not going to just pick on A-Rod. With or without the drugs, he was and still is a good player.
Jiggers, You are right about KC and Toronto. Although the Jays came in at 51 and 50. I am glad they left town below 500. It was nice to see the M’s score early, and except for League (have fun in LA Brandon) pitch fairly well.
I am glad they went up against two weaker teams and started getting some confidence. The Yankees are not a great team but they are a lot better than Seattle. This road trip should be interesting.
