    We are looking for a legal assistant/paralegal for our small family-run West Seattle defense litigation firm located in the WS Junction.

    Tasks:

    Scheduling/calendaring

    Prepare pleadings for signature

    Prepare and issue subpoenas for records

    E-filing documents with courts

    Review, summarize, and index documents, i.e. medical and employment records

    Assist with exhibit preparation for trial/arbitration

    Contacting and interviewing witnesses

    File management: intake, opening, maintenance, organization

    Document management

    Database entry

    Copying and scanning documents

    Mailing preparation

    Working with litigation support vendors

    General law office support

    Skills and requirements:

    Previous experience with litigation support, especially personal injury claims

    Flexible and open to new tasks, with an attitude that no task is too small

    Methodical, organized, and detail oriented

    Excellent phone skills

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Excellent proofreader

    Proficient with Word Perfect

    Knowledge of Excel

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003/2007

    Proficient with time/expense keeping

    Ability to learn quickly

    Must be able to handle an intermittently high volume and fast paced environment

    Ability to work independently, prioritize, and problem solve while working under deadlines

    Familiarity with local courts and court rules a plus

    Must be dog-friendly (our 2 Boston Terriers come to work regularly)

    Compensation: depends on knowledge and experience

    35-40 hours/week

    no telecommuting

    Job starts mid- to late-August
