Jax – meh

My wife and I took advantage of the fact that my MIL was here for one more night and went out to dinner without the kids. We decided to check out Jax.

I wasn’t in the mood for a full on steak, having just made a standing rib roast the night before. I decided on the burger remembering someone in the best burger thread mentioning it was very good.

The burger was indeed good, but I ordered it medium rare and it was on the north side of medium well. No one ever asked me how our food was so I ate it and mentioned it at the end of the meal.

They did comp me one of my beers – probably the one that took over 10 minutes to get after I ordered it.

I’m not a high maintenance kind of guy at the restaurant but if you have a place where beef is what’s for dinner, you better darn well cook it properly to order.

Bottom line, I wasn’t overly impressed.

Good to know.

Fortunately, I have eaten at JaKs 30-40 times over the last decade and have never been disappointed.

It is one of the few steak joints where medium rare actually means medium rare.

I say give them one more chance and order the JaKs cut fillet medium rare with the UFO – hopefully it works out for you better next time!
