JanSParticipantlol, JT….I’m with you…I’m pretty much blowing smoke at 1:45am…
Spiro’s isn’t in a stand alone bldg….doesn’t have outdoor dining. When I heard this a few months ago, I immediately thought of the location where Blackbird Bistro is now. It was originally an Italian restaurant – Ragazzi – and has been a few things between then and now, including another Italian restaurant. But it’s not Italian now..although it certainly fits the bill..it has a bar…it has outdoor seating…and I have no idea what the square footage is. I had heard that the owners wanted to just concentrate on their other property, Mission. And it seems to me that it’s been a restaurant in that location for close to 20 years..
ah, yes, more speculation :)

GenHillOneParticipantYeah, NR, I dug around on that company/agent a bit too. It seems that he is/was a restaurant owner himself, but nothing that I could tie to WS. It seems they originally wanted to fly under the radar with this listing. Maybe now that it’s on CL (no way to keep a secret!), the mystery will be solved.

yikesMemberI just really hope it isn’t Angelina’s. It is my fav place to go and have a wonderful steak salad. I know they could use more business, so everyone go there!

GenHillOneParticipantyikes, maybe this is just a brilliant ploy to get more business! If that’s the case, I appreciate good guerrilla marketing and will go for a meal. Truthfully, I haven’t been there in probably 10 years so it’s probably time.

yikesMemberIf this was a ploy, I don’t think it’s so brilliant, since we are few… but I’m glad you are going to go. Let me know what you think.

JiggersMemberJAN…you are definetly on some sort of illegal substance. Your obsession for me, I’m flabbergasted. I haven’t posted or typed anything in capital letters, or ‘yelled” like you said I did here. Get a job and stop spewing your BS. Just because I’m not like you or don’t think like you and the majority here doesn’t mean you can personally attack me and hope your chronie followers here gang up on me. I can hold my own in a battle and don’t need to be in a groupie to feel secure about myself.

GinaParticipantSays hours are 11am-11pm. So that would eliminate Spiro’s.

BonnieParticipantI say Angelina’s.

CMPParticipantThere used to be another restaurant where Angelina’s is and it was Italian, but the name of it is escaping me. This was pre-2001, as I remember coming over from Bellevue with my family during college breaks to eat there. Was it Rigazzi’s?? Anyway, that reminds me I should go eat at Angelina’s soon since they do have great food. Some hearty Italian food sounds good on this ridiculously cold June day!

WSBKeymasterI have had a complaint about Jiggers’ most recent post and also in reviewing the thread I do want to remind you all that there is room for diverse viewpoints and different participants here. Criticize ideas/statements, not people. and joking about them openly can be construed as criticism. I may be bristly because I was an outsider all my life, always last to be chosen to be on someone’s team, etc., but it was reaffirmed to me during the conference I’m just back from that we still run this vastly more loosely than most online communities and I really want to keep it that way, but I also don’t want it to be a place where you don’t feel safe if you’re not part of the inner circle. Please help. — TR

WSBKeymasterBy the way, Ristorante de Ragazzi was the name of a restaurant that was in either the Mission or Blackbird space in the ’90s.

JimmyGMemberI hope it’s not Angelina’s, that’s in our top 5 of WS restaurants.
And Angelina’s has been Angelina’s since at least 1990.

WSMomParticipantLast time we went to Angelina’s (probably 10 years ago) the food was pretty yukky so we haven’t gone back. Tell me, is it really pretty good??? I’d like to find a family place to go with my 8 year old.
June 7, 2008 at 10:21 pm #626824
JimmyGMemberWell I’m not a food snob by any stretch of the imagination, and Angelina’s is best described as a neighborhood joint.
There’s no attempt to make “food as art”. The service is wonderful, and the place is definitely kid-friendly.
They changed their menu up about 3 years ago but still kept many of the favorites. I say you give it another try WSMom.

JanSParticipantTR…Ragazzi was where Blackbird is now.Loved it when it first opened up, and it then went downhill, and became a number of things until it became Blackbird. Mission used to br The Lizzard Lounge, and before that the Rain City Tavern. Both seem to be very successful….one would think that beinf successful would mean not for sale..hmmm..
Also, TR…if I offended in any way, my apologies..it wasn’t my intent.
Jiggers…same goes to you…apologies for anything I said that may have offended. I truly wan’t meaning it to feel like an attack. I was trying to be humorous, and obviously didn’t do a very good job. For what it’s worth, no illegal drugs here, but plenty of the legal types, 3 weeks post-surgery. Oh…and I do work, thank-you..just not a typical 9-5 job :)
Honestly, you’ve been on here a long time…while you’re not part of our meet-up forum “group”, in a way you are, since you comment on here often….we, and I mean this sincerely, would love to meet you., but understand if you would prefer not to…
so…truce?

WSBKeymasterWe like Angelina’s too, fwiw, although we have been less often as we have cut back our restaurant budget since becoming entrepreneurs … I remember going there back when we first arrived in West Seattle in the early ’90s and noticing for the first time just how prevalent truly “fresh” food was in Seattle, compared to San Diego, where we’d come from … And I’d definitely call it a family place. Our guy, now 12, has been there many a time. Still goes up to check the fish tank :) — TR
