Twice in the past two weekends, I’ve driven from Tony’s Produce and passed “On Safari Foods” but both times (Sundays) the place is closed. Is anyone on WSB familiar with this store? It looks likes it sells restaurant stuff, but at 30 mph, I really can’t check it out. Any information as to what they carry?

It appears to be a catering outfit and the WS location more office than store. I have never been inside it.

For a long time I had assumed it was similar in scope to Exotic Meats

    http://www.exoticmeatsandmore.com/

Which used to be on Aurora. Even the Bellevue store seems to be closed and the original URL now points to the above site based in NV.

Exotic meats was one of the earliest commercial Web customers in Seattle in the 90’s.

Thanks Ken: I should have known that the Intertube Knows All. It just seemed like an odd storefront location without a street presence. Thanks for the feedback–I was hoping for an alternative to the more upscale specialty places for kitchen stuff available locally.

For awhile right after they opened they offered take and bake type meals for folks heading home that wanted to grab something prepared that you could just heat and eat. I stopped by a couple times but between the prices and the difficulty parking on 35th it looks like they couldn’t make a go of that part of the business and just scaled it back to catering.

Bird on a Wire around the corner sells some of their food for lunch-soup and some sandwiches-I hear the mac and cheese is awesome.

On Safari Foods is a catering company with amazing food. The owner is from South Africa and uses alot of exotic spices. The store front use to sell freshly made dishes, but due to the slow sales that was cancelled. I also noticed that the property was up for sale so the location will probably be moving soon.
