CountingCoupMemberWest Seattle’s breakfast secret finally revealed.
There are many good breakfast dishes and places in West Seattle but I need to throw a major rave and thumbs up to the “Huevos Rancheros” at the Ama Ama (Oyster Bar & Grill) on California Ave.
It’s light, a balanced blend of scrambled eggs, chorizo, salsa verde, salsa roja, cotija cheese and avocado salad with crispy white corn tortillas all served up in a bowl.
And yes it was bowl lickin’ good!
mmmmmmm

ellenaterMemberOMG that sounds amazing. Someone else raved about their omelettes a few weeks ago. Thanks!

JoBParticipantok.. another confession.. there are some things i am old fashioned about…
i want the eggs on my huevos rancheros over easy.. or at least sunny side up.. and with a yolk runny enough to blend with the beans and rice…
the ama ama huevos rancheros sound delicious.. but they just wouldn’t cut a craving for me.

CountingCoupMemberyolk in the huevos rancheros? hmmm sounds good:-p
All I can say was that when I ordered it, it stirred up so much interest that the table next to me ordered one…
For this I would chose to be a lemming…

inactiveMemberAlrighty then, since we’re talkin’ huevos rancheros, let’s REALLY mix it up.
Have you tried Endolyne Joe’s? Maybe I just get mesmerized by the crispy light red tortilla shells they use, but I just happen to think they serve it up very nice. Light. Particularly perky, but not hot salsa verde at EJ’s too. And, yes, runny yolks are a must in my book too :).
But, I will be checking out Ama Ama soon CountingCoup. Ama Ama has made me happy so many other times, they certainly deserve a try-out on the huevos. Loved the oyster happy hour too many times when they first opened…they are still doing that, right?

CountingCoupMemberAlright, this is calling for a Huevos Rancheros shootout!
Right now I will give you the Mexican standoff, until I try Endolyne Joe’s…
Thanks for the tip.
