WSBKeymasterYup, he announced it a week or maybe more ago. I worked with him when he did weekend sports at Q13, and he’s done a thing or two for WSB in the past year-plus – had hoped to draft him for more but very glad he found a job doing what he most wants to do. Our loss indeed!

But a question out there is the Gangel story…why leave at the height of an Event Coverage? Bad timing? or Bad Assignments? Seems that it would have been an outstanding time to be working for an NBC affiliate, during the Olympics and all. But it seems she left rather suddenly, Patrick Kearny isn’t exactly busting out of town today. Hmmmm.

and always loved crossing paths with a ‘star’ – whether at Thriftway, the dry cleaners, Mt. St. Vincent concerts.

Vinnie spoke eloquently at Mike Webb’s public service, I’ll always remember that.

odrokuParticipantSeattle sports talk needs less guys from New York and more guys from Washington. Never sat well from me a guy had to call himself “New York” whatever. Seattle is a first-class American city. We don’t need any NY anything!

dawsonctParticipantHe was a call-in contributor on KJR soon after they switched to sports talk. He was already using the moniker when he was lured out here for his own show and it didn’t make any commercial sense for him to change his name by that time.
I think it would be difficult to dispute Vinnie’s love for Seattle and the Northwest; he has expressed it directly and otherwise many times over his years here.
Don’t be so provincial, save that for New Yorkers.

odrokuParticipantNot being provincial; I’ve lived here only three of my nearly 40 years. I am, however, a long-time sports fan and can tell you the best sports talk comes from people who have a deeply ingrained sense of ownership with the teams about which the host speaks. Having heard him only a few times, I never really got the impression that “New York Vinnie” had a mad passion about the Seattle teams. I love Seattle, too, but I don’t give a rip about the teams here. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to hear that impassioned point of view when I bother to tune in the local sports talk, which is admittedly rare an occasion.
