TKDguyParticipantI’m starting up a new Tae Kwon Do club at Hiawatha Community Center and I’m having trouble getting the word out. I’ve put up fliers around California Ave, and Alki Beach, and posted a craigslist and WSblog event announcement, but I am still looking for creative ways to let West Seattlites know about this cool opportunity to learn a martial art starting January 5. Does anyone have any suggestions how to spread the word?

TKDguyParticipant18 and older. Classes are Mondays & Thursdays 7-8:30pm and Saturdays 11:15am-1:15pm.
Any other suggestions for places that I could post information or get fliers up that have a lot of visibility in the WS area?

SueParticipantYou could always hand out flyers in the Junction, maybe around the time of the farmers market when there’s a lot of pedestrian traffic.

mike0323ParticipantI was just interested in surveying all the martial arts opportunities in West Seattle and I basically did a Google search.
When you say club what do you mean?
I might be interested, What is the cost?

TKDguyParticipantI am wanting this to be more than just some class that people attend for a few months and then quit. This will be a club that people can keep training all year and can work their way up through the various belt ranks of tae kwon do and truly learn the art. I also would like this group to get to know one another in and out of the dojang (training hall) through various club trips, potluck dinners, martial arts movie nights, martial arts demonstrations and so on. I have taught a martial arts club for over 10 years in Illinois and enjoyed the friendships and unity that such a group produces.
In terms of cost, I am basically volunteering to teach, so I requested that they keep the cost to a minimum ($30 a month). I wish it could be free, but they must cover costs for the room, equipment, insurance, and so on.

TKDguyParticipantBy the way, contact Hiawatha Community Center (206) 684-7441 to register!
