The miracle happened.. Jan got her new kidney.

That alone would be reason enough for a party

but she is self supporting and has been critically ill and unable to work for the larger part of the last two years.. she still needs help meeting her bills until she is released to go back to work.

We could take time and plan a huge very public fundraiser and may still do that.. but the need is immediate and Jan wants the garden party we planned last year..

So.. the plan is simple. Show up if you can, hang out with Jan and donate what you can afford.

There are several ways to donate.

Bring your loose change.. we hope to have to empty our counting jar at least once… with a prize for the person who puts in the coin that takes the count over the top…

    Enter a contest.

We have decided to liven up our pot luck with contests for the best baked goodies and the best munchies… with a donation jar on the buffet and prizes for the winners..

We will even have a prize for the person bringing the best beer to share … and the best bottle of wine

    and the best soft drink..

We even have a bartender who will be donating his tips to Jan.

    entertain us

nothing says garden party like an impromptu jam session

yes.. we will have prizes for that too…

Jan will bring her personal piggy to stuff

and we are creating some kind of giving tree that will allow you to choose one of Jan’s many living expenses to fund

Instead of buying Jan a drink or a meal or a gift… let’s buy her a couple of months recovery time so she can truly get on with her new lease on life…

I have set this invite to public so that it can be shared with your friends whether you can accept the invitation or not…

i will release the address to those who respond.

thanks.. pray for good weather and a good crowd..

THIS WAS POSTED AS A FACEBOOK EVENT THIS MORNING..

I will try to go back and find a link to post but i posted it under public

so i think you can find it on facebook if you look for it..

I would appreciate rsvps through facebook if you can since that will make it easier to get an idea who is coming…

but if that doesn’t work for you.. or if your opportunity is as last minute as this party…

you are still welcome to join us at 8114 31st Av SW… one house north of Thistle on the East side of the street.

I am also collecting donations from people who want to donate and have their donation totaled with everyone else’s at party’s end… or who can’t attend but want to drop off party supplies or small gifts for our prize bags…

My dogs complicate my life, so if you want to drop by any time other than the weekend of the party, please email me so i can contain the dogs.. joanne @brayden.org

I know this is all very last minute.. but Jan’s new kidney didn’t give us advance notice ;->

Even if you haven’t met us yet, Jan and I and Charla are all looking forward to putting faces with the many friends we have made here in on the forum…

although we hope many of you will stay to enjoy the day, just stopping by to say hello will mean the world to Jan…

You may want to post the date, time, and place here, since many people don’t have/want a Facebook profile, and one has to be a Facebook member to access Facebook content.

Thank you for doing this Joanne.

I have a previous commitment to assist with another fundraiser from 3 – 7 pm. However, my offer to loan tables, table coverings and gaming entertainment accessories still stands. I could help you set it up in the morning before leaving for the other fundraiser.

Jo, that would probably be a good idea, for those that are on your e-m list, but maybe don’t do FB and/or visit these Forums often.

Now, a question regarding those of us that have already responded “going”, on the FB page; if we respond on evite that we will attend, to we get to party twice as hearty? ;-)

with you the party will always be twice as hearty :)

if the guy comes over today who can help me do it.. i will get the evite thing handled today..

if not.. someone will have to help me over the weekend.

Ok.. i know i should be working on this.. creating an evite.. calling personally on family and friends to support this event.. publicizing… begging, borrowing, stealing if necessary…

but here’s the truth… I am taking the day off.

Jan and i have both had difficult weeks and we are going to get out of dodge.. play hookey.. eat ice cream.. sneeze flowers..

we would pick up a couple of cool dudes and wile the afternoon away.. but frankly.. i don’t have either the interest or the energy…

    so we’ll just putz….

back to my regularly scheduled campaigning tomorrow..

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

We are going to give it our best shot…

now.. if only i had a convertible..

i have the hats and scarves and …

    what??? no gloves?

oh well.. you can’t be a lady.. even a red hat lady… every day…

in fact.. i find it’s more fun if you save that stuff for dress up :)

    carry on ;~}

Ok.. i did this evite thing on my own and inadvertently sent it to everyone who has ever emailed me…

so i really really hope this link works…

i think there must have been a better way to do this… but there you go.. it’s done.

if you can’t find a way to respond to this just email me at joanne@brayden.org

The link brought up the page just fine, but I didn’t respond, since I already did so on FB.

FWIW, I haven’t received the e-mail of it yet.

well, Mike…in one day we stopped at a fruit stand in Sultan, lunched in Gold Bar..went over Stevens Pass, found Lake Wenatchee, went to Leavenworth, then,by way of Chumstick (love that name – lol) went to Cashmere, WA, before heading over Blewett Pass to I-90 and home. It was a long day, but fun, fun, fun…and what a spectacularly beautiful state we live in !

miws.. who else can create an evite and invite no-one?

    that takes real talent.

i fixed it.. this time having already emotionally accepted all of the consequences, i bit the bullet and hit the invite all button.

if it doesn’t work.. let me know

Okay, I went ahead and clicked “Yes” on the evite, but didn’t submit anything, because I (seriously) don’t want to throw your numbers off, since I image cross-checking between FB and evite could be cumbersome for you.

    Still no e-mail received though.

So glad you two were able to escape yesterday, and recharge!

miws.. did you get the email yet? the program says i sent it to 668 people, but when i hover over individuals, it says they have not yet viewed their invitation..

    have you received it?

    i don’t think i like evite :(
