lazybeardParticipantI just recieved a desktop PC from my mom and she used packing peanuts to, well, pack it.
I have about 2 11 gallon bags of packing peanuts sitting in my living room that I would like to give away. I’m in Highland Park and feel free to email me at lazybeard@gmail.com. A photo of them is below.

JanSParticipantIf you have no takers, sometimes UPS stores will take them. Also, if you google packing peanuts recycling seattle, there are a few places (none in WS, of course – bleh) that will take them. I always thought that the Admiral Junction Mailing Center at Calif SW and SW Lander took them, but you’d have to call first.

lazybeardParticipantI used to donate them to a small shop when I lived in Bellevue and if I don’t find any takers I will attempt to go the small shop route. You never know who needs things like this.

flowerpetalMemberI too have used the mailing center in the Admiral District; and have never called in advance. I also take them to the mail boxes place across from Thriftway; not sure if that place is still there. I have never been turned down when offering these to mailing centers.

miwsParticipantfp, that would be Mailbox West, and yes they are still there!
I’m heading out to Thriftway in a few minutes, and will pop into MW and ask if they still recycle the peanuts.
Of course, that’s all dependant on remembering to do so, considering my slightly poor memory, and short attention sp….Oh look! A bird!

JoBParticipantit looks from the photo that at least some of them are the kind that melts in water (biodegradable)… but it also looks like some aren’t.
the old fashioned kind are great for filling the bottom of a large planter pot… as long as you put a porous membrane over them before putting in soil…
it makes the pot lighter.. which is an advantage if you need to move it.. and saves on soil.
ping pong balls also work.. but they aren’t often used for packing:(
lazybeard.. has someone taken these off your hands yet?

miwsParticipantMailbox West, across from Thriftway in the Morgan Junction does accept the styrofoam peanuts for recycling, as long as they are clean & bagged.

velo_nutParticipantI toss mine in the Green Dumpster behind Safeway.

lazybeardParticipantNo one has emailed me or PM’d me about taking them off my hands.

lazybeardParticipantI took miws’ advice and dropped them off to the shipping/post office box shop across from Thriftway. I caught the employee as he was walking out/closing up for the day.
