At about 2:45pm today I came across a stray dog while walking a friends dog. Was with another family about 2-3 blocks east of PCC. They asked if I’ve seen it around, which I haven’t. Had tags but were old and worn illegible. They didn’t know what to do, but no worries for them when the dog followed me to the PCC not listening to my calls to go home. I guess it just wanted to hang out with my friends dog. A lady at the bus stop grabbed it for me and I called Animal Control @ 206.386.7387.

    .

The nice lady was going to stay with it until they arrived to take it away. I’m not a dog person so I couldn’t tell you the breed. The lady said a corgi mix. Mostly black with white and brown markings. I forgot to snap a pic with my phone. I found one online that looks very similar but I can’t figure out how to post it here.

    .

Big thanks to the lady who stuck it out with the dog. Sorry if I came off annoyed. I just didn’t think calling 911 for a found dog was an emergency. I know you said that you had over 20 years working for the sheriff, but even so – weren’t you pissed at people calling 911 with silly things? Luckily the operator gave me the number and I got off the line quick as I could. I wish I could remember your name. I hope you didn’t have to wait too long. Hopefully the dog owner came before Animal Control.

I should be the one posting the THANK YOU, that was our dog and I am sooooo grateful that someone had found her and called Animal Control. She is a Corgi, just over a year old and has chewed on her tags to the point they are unreadable. We have a fenced yard and my husband let her out the back door, not knowing the front gate was open. He went outside to check on her after about 45 minutes because she was so quiet. He saw the open gate and panicked. He just started the hunt when Animal Control called. She’s never been off leash or on the loose before, so I am just thrilled that she was not hit by a car.

The fence will be checked before letting her out from this point on, that was a close call.

Thanks for calling Animal Control, it cost us some fines, but totally worth it to have her back home safe and sound.

Oh I’m glad that you got her back. I just checked my email, with a response from the WSB editor with your number to call you.
