I gave one of mine to a friend thinking that I only needed one box for 2 tvs… then I thought that I could get more than two coupons. Wrong!

If anyone has coupons or an allocation that they don’t plan on using, I could sure use it! Thanks!

I don’t have a coupon but thought I’d pass in some info. Some friends in Kirkland went to Radio Shack and bought a ‘DTV’ antenna it connects to the tv much the same way rabbit ears do – they were able to receive all the local channels with better resolution than their old rabbit ears style antenna.

I have an extra coupon. Unfortunately I’m sick today and not willing to pass it on, so won’t be able to get it to you right away. PM me if you want me to mail it, or we can meet up next weekend if you like.

Where does one normally get the coupons? Does Comcast send them in the mail?

No, you get them in the mail after going to the website… they control how many are handed out. Here is the website:

This is bound to confuse the issue, but can anyone in the forum confirm whether I understood an article I read? A WV Senator has proposed legislation that will postpone the date for conversion until June?

This is my understanding and it would be great if anyone can add or clarify this:

As of Friday, there are over 2.1 million people on the waiting list for coupons. They have run out of money to provide more. This guy is saying that the country is obviously not ready for the conversion. The only opponents to this seem to be the Electronic Consumer’s Guild???? and Verizon.

So, any one willing to shed light?

    Thanks

Wes – the coupons were distributed free by the government for a while. They’ve now run out (no more money in the gov coffers), so people requesting coupons now go onto a waiting list. New coupons will be sent out as previously sent out coupons expire.

Coupons expire a certain amount of weeks/months (?) after they’re mailed. I’m on the waiting list, and it looks like their estimates are about 2 months between when you get onto the waiting list and when the coupons will be mailed.

The coupons are worth $40 and converter boxes start at about $60-70.

Dood, my understanding is that House Republicans blocked the delay of the switchover. It’s BIG money for retailers and manufacturers, as a lot of people don’t understand the (very poorly disseminated) info on what to do, and they are simply buying new TV’s. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28695439/ has info, as do a huge number of other sources if people don’t like msnbc.

I’m so sorry to not have gotten back on this. I found my extra one and it’s already expired. I suspect this will be the case for a lot of folks. I’m sorry!

Looks like the transition is being postponed until June 12th. Hopefully, we all get our wait-listed converter coupons by then. :-)

We got ours coupons last weekend and bought a converter box and new antenna. What an improvement! No more weak signals. Channel 13 has always been a challenge for us. Not anymore. Clear picture and static free sound. The only thing I noticed is the volume is weaker with a digital signal.

My neighbor was so impressed they are cancelling their limited basic cable and going with over-the-air digital. Sorry, we gave them our other coupon.
