Having researched local HVAC installers extensively, I finally found a really good one and decided that this knowledge is worth sharing with the WSB readers.
Jeff does not hurry the job, is a perfectionist, does more than is necessary and (very importantly) was the least expensive. He even left the garage cleaner than it was and insulated not only the furnace, but the adjacent water heater!
Also, Jeff is a great source of knowledge regarding the different manufacturers. Many of the HVAC manufacturers produce low-quality hardware. I now have a top-of-the-line American Standard heat pump, backup electric furnace and the top-rated electronic air cleaner for less than most installers charge for the heat pump alone.
