AimParticipantHey all,
I’m cooped up in the house for at least another week due to the current health stuff. (Click my name and see my blog if you want the details)
I don’t have the energy or concentration to read much more than random magazines – thank goodness the October issues are generally double-sized! But I could really use some DVDs to watch. Especially silly, dumb, or otherwise brainless movies.
Anyone willing to loan me a few? I am very good at returning things borrowed. I’m streaming things on Netflix and Hulu but getting a bit bored of the options. Can’t go to the library, as walking and standing for more than about 5 minutes wipes me right out.
Thanks for any recommendations or loans you are willing to make.

SueParticipantI just sent you an email with a list of stuff – let me know if any of that works for you. :)
October 8, 2008 at 2:33 pm #642743
GinaParticipantDo you like Britcoms? I have French and Saunders, also Fry and Laurie. Also The Star Wars television special from 1977(so awful that it is awful) and Brady Bunch Home Movies. A sample of the dvd collection that is mine…
October 8, 2008 at 3:33 pm #642744
AimParticipantNot such a big sci fi or fantasy fan, honestly. That and British Humor are really the only things that just don’t work well for me. Right now, with my brain as fuzzy as it is, I think super super stupid is the way to go. Jim Carrey, Jack Black, stupid teenybopper movies, that sort of thing :)
I’m going to see what Netflix has new, and some of the networks. I don’t have cable, so I often just catch things online if I want to see them.
Thanks so much for the offers!

RSMemberAim, we may have some stuff and I think we’re close by. What’s the best email for you?
October 8, 2008 at 4:14 pm #642746
miwsParticipantAim, Dunno if any of my DVDs would suit your tastes, but want you to know I’m sending healing thoughts your way.
And definitely get back to the ER if your asthma gets worse again. I know from recent experience that pneumonia ain’t a fun thing!

GenHillOneParticipantAim, I just sent you a list – we are big believers in mindless travel flicks :)
October 8, 2008 at 4:45 pm #642748
KatherineLParticipantAim, so sorry to hear about your problems. I can’t figure out how to get a password on your blog – no technophile here. I have a couple seasons’ worth of M*A*S*H on DVD. Would that work for you? Email me at kld963@gmail.com. I could drop them off today, but have frequent migraines. I never know what will be possible for me tomorrow.
October 8, 2008 at 6:44 pm #642749
AimParticipantAll – feel free to email me at aimgrrrl@gmail.com
GenHillOne and Zenguy have kindly offered to loan me a few brainless and fun things (Talladega Nights! WOOOOHOOO!)
Katherine, thank you so much for the offer. I think I’m probably ok at this point. I will email you if that changes. Believe me I understand about the migraines. A couple years of Depakote and Topamax eventually cured me of them but I used to get them for weekes on end. Horrible stuff.
RS: YES! Drop me an email or gimme a call and let’s talk. You are very close by – about 6 blocks.

ellenaterMemberAim, Have you Seen Old School? I also have Beverly Hills Cop which is one of the funniest movies ever made. I have all Monty Python, also but that might not be your thing. Good luck!
October 8, 2008 at 7:25 pm #642751
AimParticipantOOOOH! all of the abbove other than Monty Python are right up my alley. Haven’t seen an Axel Foley movie in ages. I would love to see those if you’re willing to lend!
Thank you to everyone. Seriously, you have NO idea how helpful it is to have something to occupy me.

JenVMemberIf you’re at all into Canadian Stoner comedy…I have all 7 seasons plus the movie of the Trailer Park Boys… :)

AimParticipantJV – Never seen it – but willing to try!

AimParticipantEllenater and GenHillOne Both rock. I just want to thank you both for bringing so many movies. I should be all set for at least a week!!
Truly you both are wonderful. This community is pretty amazing, once again.
October 9, 2008 at 1:56 am #642755
GenHillOneParticipantJust get better!
October 9, 2008 at 2:46 am #642756
ellenaterMemberYa, seriously!
October 9, 2008 at 6:24 am #642757
ZenguyParticipantI just hope you can make it to Sunday’s get together.
October 9, 2008 at 10:57 pm #642758
AimParticipantOK, Seriously, you guys. This community makes me so proud to be a part of it.
I had three people drop movies off yesterday, and no fewer than 5 emails asking if I needed any more.
I am going to see if I can make an appearance on Sunday – it’s really going to depend on how I feel. However, after I’m better, I am TOTALLY buying a round of beers.
October 10, 2008 at 1:07 am #642759
ellenaterMemberwine for me :)
I can’t make it to bowling but will definitely catch up on the beer/wine festivities when you’re better.
“No man, that aint me. I’m from Buffalo”.
October 10, 2008 at 3:31 pm #642760
AimParticipantZenguy I realized I didn’t mention you by name. Thank you again for the DVD’s you brought.
Seriously between all three of you I’m sitting here comfy as can be watching GREAT movies!
I cannot thank you enough.
October 13, 2008 at 2:59 pm #642761
JerryMemberwhere is the best place to buy used DVDs and CDs?
October 13, 2008 at 6:12 pm #642762
SueParticipantJerry, my husband is always buying used stuff at Rubato Records in the Junction. Don’t know if it’s the “best” place to do so, but I know he’s always coming home with something from there.
