I’ll answer: 1) I have, though I’d hardly classify anyone here as yelling. 2) This quesion is to broad as responses can vary by venue. 3)I’ve had people look at me like I’m crazy but, by and large, no. 4)I have been accused of having a few screws loose. 5) Never been knocked out in a fist fight.
Heated conversations and arguments happen all the time in the real world, bucko, and they rarely end up in fisticuffs.
I guess you’d have to start with the ranting in a public square to really get things rolling and see how things go from there.

I’m saying that people on the internet seem a little to comfortable ranting in ways that more than likely would be considered socially unacceptable if actually done in public. I’m saying that one probably should refrain from saying things from behind a computer screen they wouldn’t say to someone’s face. I’m also saying that if you are willing to speak so harshly to someone’s face about such inconsequential things that you be ready to accept whatever response comes your way. Basically, probably better to not say something that might lead to a fight if you aren’t willing to take the whooping. If that doesn’t work for you, how about just don’t write something on the Internet you wouldn’t want your parents/kids to read. This entire thread is insane…

Well, we all know that dog people passionately love their dogs and dog-stuff.
And maybe now dog people know how passionately (some) dog-less people love not encountering dog by products- and with this shared perspective, perhaps we can all be a little more understanding, and float back to somewhere in the middle.

SniperKittyParticipantCan I add that I can understand some of the frustration in this post due to the fact that I’ve had to clean dog crap off my shoes on 3 separate occasions over a one week period. One was in my front yard right next to my car, the other two were at a community center playfield (where the off-leash dogs run free every single day despite the many signs that state dogs aren’t allowed).
It was also frustrating last month when some jackass bagged his dog’s poop and the left the poop-filled bag in my yard. WTF? What kind of moron bags the poop and then just drops it on the ground? Seriously, if you are the inconsiderate type of dog owner that can’t be bothered with properly disposing of your animal’s waste, might I suggest you do the rest of us a favor and get a sweet indoor cat instead? Yeah, I said it!

KBearParticipantI thought all cats required access to the neighbor’s yard, busy steets, and threatened songbirds. Do you mean to tell me there are cats that live indoors? Where do they pee if they can’t get to my front porch?

NNW-thank you, I have often wondered if the manner in which folks post on these threads is the same manner in which they interact with other human beings on a daily basis. This is a 60-post thread on dog sh*t just so we are all clear, did everyone forget dogs don’t really control how, and when they move their bowels or micturate? I am sure some of the haughty attitudes on here will exclaim “There’s training for that!”-sure there is, if one can afford it. So they can’t go on parking strips, they can’t go in green spaces, they can’t go on the sidewalk, ok, where in the H can they go then? Some people live in apartments and don’t have a yard to turn into a public toilet. Christ on a bike everyone, lighten up, there are bigger fish to fry than steaming piles of poo, how about how frustrating it is that most days it takes an hour or more to get from the west Seattle bridge to downtown, or that because of the shift I work I don’t have a choice to use public transportation. It must be nice to have such luxury in life that dog sh*t warrants this much attention ::::shaking my head in disbelief:::
*and I better add that my two beautiful golden retrievers are free to take a dump wherever they please and I willfully pick it up–urine on the other hand, sorry no doggy diapers for my boys*

because the same people who won’t carry poop bags home or to a public receptacle aren’t likely to let their beloved pups risk soiling their environment ;-) ;-)

twobottlesParticipantSmitty,I think you misunderstand my point. I don’t see dog poop in my garbage can as a lesser of two evils, the fact is I DON’T CARE! Or, in keeping with the subject matter of this post, I don’t give a crap.
Put your dog poop in my garbage can all you want. It’s outside, beyond my garage, next to the alley. I can’t see it and I can’t smell it. Oh, and garbage stinks already.

Yes, you can easily train your dog where and where not to waste. In fact, it’s the very first thing you train them- that’s why they don’t go in the house all day while you’re at work. You know how your kids (what you have between dogs) don’t just crap on the street (eventually)? That’s because you told them not to. Dogs are far more obedient than children, so tell your dog not to crap at husky deli (for example).
Don’t worry, SniperKitty is going to empty her litter box there.

Let’s recap, if one uses an alley garbage can to dispose of a poop bag its akin to punching someone in the face instead of shooting them, your selfish and stupid and somehow ISIS is now brought into the discussion. Oh and one comment-er is so disturbed by a poop bag in her garbage that it gets thrown in the street to teach people a lesson.

Maybe we need a “poop friendly” sticker of some sort to help identify those who are “chill, relaxed, laid back enough” to allow it?
My guess is that most people who don’t give a rip live in an apartment or condo and don’t have to deal with untied poop bags that smear crap all over the inside of garbage cans. And yes, it’s a worse smell that bagged garbage.
Laziness and selfishness should not trump common courtesy.

Ugh and it’s perpetuated, Smitty I love the poop-friendly sticker idea…funny thing Wsea, you train your dog NOT to go in the house but outside where there is grass and dirt and oh I don’t know we’ll just call it “natural space” so when Fido sees any said “natural space” his sniffer goes into “sweet, I can finally do my business” and he or she sniffs around some grassy area to find their plot. So if you have some crazy dog training ability to help a dog discern that THIS grass is ok but NOT that grass, by all means, please share, we are waiting with baited breath ::::insert disapproving glance emoji::::

Ron SwansonMemberHere’s my courtesy rules:
1: always pick up the poop. That’s like dog walking 101. That said, if you don’t bother to maintain your yard and I can’t see where it landed with all the weeds and trash, it may just add to the ambiance.
2: put it in a securely tied bag. No one likes it squirting out when more garbage goes in on top.
3: get rid of it. Park garbages are the #1 target, followed by apartment or business dumpsters. Alley garbage cans are fine, but not tiny little microcans or ones that are already overfilled. Don’t put it in the damn compost bin!
4: if you leave your can out on the street past 8pm Monday, it becomes fair game. If you for some unfathomable reason want to keep it in your house, you gotta bring it in promptly.
