My trusty old lawnmower finally bit the dust. Anyone know the best way to dispose of one of these? Not sure if you can drop these at the dump – don’t recall seeing any there before. Thanks for any tips!

King County frequently has recycling collection events that take stuff like lawn mowers (drained of gas and oil)

Looks like the next closest one is in Des Moines on the 13th.

there’s a guy on Fauntleroy who I believe takes in and repairs (and resells) lawnmowers. you can usually see him out in the yard with a bunch of lawnmowers & weedeaters on a weekend day. Across from Lincoln Park, just a little north of the north parking lot.

Just post it in Craigslist’s free section, with full disclosure that it’s broken. I’m sure someone will want to take it off your hands.

The Goodwill will also take it but you need to drain it of gas and oil.

We have had terrific luck getting rid of stuff by just putting it at the curb with a free sign (and in this case one that indicated that it was broken) and sometimes things have been gone before we could go to the house and get the next thing to put out… But we live on an arterial.

I was just at the South Park transfer station disposing of scrap metal and I noticed 2 lawn mowers in the pile….and dumping scrap metal is free :)

You could leave it in front of my neighbor’s garage. They already have one there, and they’d probably never notice a second one.
