Anyone know anyone who has experience with Kenmore dishwashers?

Every repairman has experience with Kenmore dishwashers. And lots of us regular humans too.

    http://www.searspartsdirect.com/

Kenmore is a Sears brand and Sears has the parts and the repair techs specific to the brand.

But dishwashers are pretty much all the same and most people can figure out the mechanical parts or replace the electronics.

Here in Seattle we have a sears parts distribution warehouse so lots of parts can be bought down on 4th ave. (or is it 1st ave?)

Actually I have not been there in so long I am not sure it is still there…

Kenmore is actually a brand, and is manufactured by a variety of companies.

Find the model number and put it into google search and you may find a specific tutorial page for your dishwasher.

    What’s the problem, exactly, localgirl?

I just checked and I have a Kenmore dishwasher… Not sure if that helps, but I have disassembled and replaced parts on every other appliance in the house. The DW just has not broken yet.

yeah, the sears parts distribution center is still there. it’s across lander from home depot.

dishwashers typically drain into the main sink line or the garbage disposal.

a disposal will have a capped drain line. you uncap it, then hook the dishwasher’s drain to that.

if you don’t have a disposal, you need to buy one of these and a hack saw and some plumbers putty and rebuild your p-trap. but i’m not sure if the dishwasher drain will come in before or after the p-trap.

google will know that answer. and it’s an important answer, because you don’t want sink waste draining back into your dishwasher.

The dishwasher runs and then at the end of the cycle it doesnt drain all the way?

Wondering if someone knew if I have to just call Sears for a service call or if someone local knew what to do?

I will try your suggestions, thanks!

localgirl: I had a similar problem, that’s why I asked.

Your dishwasher might not necessarily be broken.

Before you call a plumber, make sure that your drain hose has been properly installed. Sometimes water will run back into the dishwasher from the drain hose if the hose is elevated and water has to be pumped up and out of the unit.

To prevent waste water from draining back into the dishwasher, put a loop (of at least six inches) in the drain hose at its highest point. The loop will prevent any water left in the hose from running back into the unit after the dishwasher drains.

    Good luck.

    localgirl:

The main thing is this: Did your dishwasher previously drain OK, and now it does not?

If it did and now does not, then I believe the following are possibilities:

    Kinked or plugged drain hose.

    Bad Pump.

    Bad computer circuit board.

I recommend you call Wiseman Appliance repair if you cannot troubleshoot it yourself. He has great reviews.

Ken has good points, as always.

But, if you make errors on this stuff, it can cause you much more damage, eg. a flooded floor, warped floor, and a dishwasher that still does not work. If the dishwasher is not too ancient, I suggest Wiseman Appliance Repair. Very honest, with great Reviews.

It sounds to me that you do not have a lot of expertise in appliance repair. If you do, go for it.

    It did work fine.

We are going to pull it out and see if anything is kinked!

    Will check with Wiseman.

    Thank you.
