carterParticipantMy neighbor asked me to post this:
âTo the family in the 6700 Block of 35th Ave. SW â I happened to be the unfortunate driver of a car behind the vehicle which your family cat ran out in front of. The accident occurred so quickly and your cat ran so fast into the street that the driver in the car in front of me had no chance to do anything at all.
To her credit, the driver of the car did pull over in the parking lot on the corner of Morgan and 35th. She was shocked and her young son was devastated. I tried to reassure her that there was absolutely nothing she could have done. If there is any way to help you feel better, please know that your beautiful cat did not suffer in any way. I feel badly too, but there was absolutely nothing that could have been done short of causing another accident involving other cars and possibly human injury.”

ALSParticipantSo sad. And this is why cats should be kept indoors. You’d never let your dog just run loose, so why do people seem to think it’s okay for cats? I feel for people who lose pets to cars, but they seem to know they’re taking that risk when they let their animals run free. If only they’d think of the emotional trauma of those who hit them as well.

inactiveMemberHere Here ALS….so sad. It is mostly UNNECESSARY people. I don’t know the circumstances of this cat’s owner and why it was allowed anywhere near such a lethal arterial, but it is a mercy it did not suffer.
If you have never seen an animal languish and thrash in it’s last moments in primal pain, consider yourselves lucky. This cat was lucky with a quick end. But many aren’t. Is it worth it to you owners who insist on some fantasy of a cat being able to safely negotiate traffic and defend itself against a few thousand pounds of moving metal? I am not going to sugar coat it for you: It is a horrible, horrible thing to witness and be powerless to help the suffering creature.
Keep your cats inside people. It is just not worth it!

hammerheadParticipantI have had a few cats fixed for some people at an apartment complex next to pizza hut. Also very sad with all the work that was done with all the cats that were taken out of there when highpoint was torn down is right back where we started. I know is highpoint is mixed use but it is obvious that people are not getting the cats s/n I am already getting calls from people about stray cats and abandonded cats.
So if anyone knows anyone in that area and they notice cats be aware and get ahold of me.

sasquatchMemberThanks so much for posting that the kitty did not suffer! I was really sad after seeing that cat after it died. I grew up with outdoor cats in a rural area and had zero regrets about them going outside. But now that I live on 35th Ave SW, I can’t let my two cats out. My cats don’t want to go out which is a plus. If the owners of the cat are reading this, I’m really sorry this happened. :(
