WSBKeymasterWhen they opened in Silverdale, someone actually semi-camped out the night before.

I don’t know if there is any West Seattleite that dedicated to the concept of being the first person to set foot in the long-speculated-on-and-now-almost-reality Trader Joe’s, but we’ll just have to see … TR

DianeParticipantI look forward to a “mob scene”, aka community party

DianeParticipantTR, how many cameras/reporters will you have posted at TJ’s that morning? finally get inside for up-close photos of murals, pics of first-in-line; what else are you focused on for that day?

YeloRoseMemberI was living in Iowa when they opened the first Trader Joe’s in Des Moines. It was ridiculously crowded for the first month! You could squeeze in on weekdays, but weekends – forget it! That being said, I still can’t wait for this one to open. :o)

clark5080ParticipantSounds like we better get a bunch of security or the swat team down there to controll all you Trader Joe’s fans

JayDeeParticipantI am an unabashed fan of trader joes since 1986. That being said I wondered why we were bereft for so long. We had the demographics they like, geographic isolation, higher than typical incomes…but no TJs. First Kirkland/Totem lake (yeah, right…) then Queen Anne (natch), U-District (ok), Burien (what up? Easy access, good parking, wide aisles — still an anomaly). Cap hill (classic), Fre-lard (weird). Sliverdale was like a twilight zone…easy parking, very wide aisles, no jostling, a store 2x bigger than…any TJs I have ever seen.. No, I didn’t go there on purpose, I was in the hood,

I suspect ours will be like Cap Hill: crappy parking, semi-narrow but a larger size store than QA or the U-district.

HelperMonkeyParticipantthe new TJs opening up here will be a good opportunity for me to start shopping at the Burien location again. It had gotten too crowded, and I suspect most of the people there were from WS! Now that the new WS TJ’s will be presumably uncomfortably crowded for a long while and lacking parking I’ll gladly make the drive back out to Burien to avoid the crowds. :)
