JoBParticipantmy mochi was diagnosed with soft tissue cancer a few months ago. She has had surgery and a couple of electro chemotherapy treatments and it appears her tumors are still growing.
Her cancer is much faster growing than expected and i am not willing to put her through more invasive therapies that “might” add a month or to to her life.
i have been reading about cannabis therapy for both pain control (quality of life) and tumor treatment… but there isn’t much out there in the way of medical literature.
i have found what appears to be a local supplier of pet products but would appreciate any input from anyone who has had experience with this kind of therapy.
if you are uncomfortable talking about this on the forum… you can email me at joanne at brayden dot org

waynsterParticipantSo sorry to hear this JoB the experts are out on pot for pets they say not good in large amounts although I give my dogs what I call scooby snacks which is just the stems they chew on them and they do alright…. so a little non candy and no chocolate eatable might work but just a little bit….

JoBParticipanti was wrong in thinking i had found a local source.. at least not one that will list the CBD:THC ratio and amounts on the packaging.

Talaki34ParticipantI believe it is the current issue of Bark that has an article on medical marijuana for dogs. Might be worth checking out.
If you have a Vet you are comfortable speaking with, he/she might be able to check out these websites for you. Looks like they might be a good resource for information and products. WA based.

Marijuana can be very toxic to pets. Dosage should be overseen by a Vet. Not sure about the hemp products, but I would assume the same would be true for them.
My cat was just diagnosed with cancer. Before we can begin treatment, he has to start eating. I will be discussing using a hemp based product with my Vet.

JTBParticipantI really doubt the assertion of the cannaforpets people that a hemp product provides meaningful CBD or THC. If it did, hemp products would have been derailed by the DEA long ago. The whole point about hemp is that it provides a negligible amount of cannabanoids while offering excellent fiber and fatty acids.

JoBParticipantJTB..
i have a difficult time with that too…
or with anything used as medicine.. whether it is for my dog or for me.. that doesn’t label active ingredients and their strength.
i have cold pressed hemp oil in the fridge..
i use it for my skin… but not for hers.
maybe i will be going to San Francisco after all…
November 9, 2015 at 5:00 am #828943
JoBParticipantthen again.. at around a thousand dollars for a last minute trip.. maybe not.

JoBParticipantthere are no CBDs in hemp seed oil
there are traces of CBDs in hemp oil if it is processed from the stalks…
neither are at “therapeutic” levels for humans

SueParticipantI’m sorry to hear that Mochi’s cancer is growing. I don’t know anything personally about the topic with pets, but I wonder if the vets at Kingdom of Basil might know something about it or who to refer to – they are holistic vets, if you’re not familiar with them, and it’s where I take my cat for acupuncture/Chinese herbs. kingdomofbasil.com (near 17th/Roxbury)

melissaParticipantI’d suggest that you buy some high cbd weed from one of the reputable shops in the area and make your own dog treats out of it. If you’d like help with that, please let me know.

JoBParticipantWe had better news today than we expected so i am going to be putting off cannabis treats for a bit and we are likely going ahead with low dose chemo after all…
it is so difficult to know what to do.
melissa… thank you
i may be asking for help yet
