JanSParticipantI have an old book…actually, it’s 176 years old, that is in German. I know it’s of a religious nature, but not exactly sure what it is. It’s a really fancy type used, so it may be interesting to translate. I just want to know exactly what I have. Anyone out there that can help?

The Velvet BulldogParticipantJan–are any schools/community colleges still teaching German? You might be able to swing by and have an instructor look at it.

inactiveMemberHey Jan –
If you can get a ride up to the University District, there is a German Conversation group which meets at the Continental once a month, or so. They have been meeting there for eons and the folks are very sociable. I have no doubt they would tell you what you’ve got and what it says.
Also, I recommend the avgolemeno soup and greek fries while you are there, followed by a pastry from the attached bakery. :
:) Seems it always comes back around to food. ;)

JustSarahParticipantGoogle translate’s actually quite good, but it’d take quite a while to transcribe a book onto there. That said, you could maybe enter in a few paragraphs from throughout the book to get an idea of what the book’s about.

OwnerMaryMemberThere is a company in the junction (corner of 41st and Edmonds – in a storefront of the condo building) that is the German Translation Services that might be able to help you.
