ToddinWestwoodMemberWhy has California ave gotten so bad? It almost takes an off road vehicle to drive from Admiral to Morgan Junction. It isnt even winter yet, the time of the year the road traditionally falls apart. What can we do about it. Report the whole thing to the pothole rangers? Maybe its part of the master plan to get us out of our cars by breaking all of them.

MrJTMemberUh, just a guess here, but it’s because SDOT is run by an incompetent leader.

ToddinWestwoodMemberUmm, so no one else here has a problem with the condition of the street?

CMPParticipantI have a problem with it, especially from the Alaska Junction south to about Brandon. Potholes everywhere. California was repaved north of Oregon a few years back, but SDOT neglected to repave the area that really needed it between the Alaska and Morgan junctions. I agree with MrJT’s assessment!

pigeonmomParticipantI agree. My ex husband is from El Salvador and he said California Ave was as bad as some streets in San Salvador. And the roads are pretty bad there.

KBearParticipantPigeonmom, I’ve been to El Salvador (though not very recently), and I think your ex husband exaggerates (but you probably already knew that about him.)

swimcatMemberThe stretch between Raymond and Edmonds is the worst! I don’t drive from the Alaska Junction to Admiral via California that often, but I have to believe that that stretch of road was not in such dire need of repair as it is further south. But I wonder why the north end got repaved???
btw- I just checked SDOT’s paving schedule which is set through 2015. California Avenue is not on there- you’ll have to keep calling the pothole rangers, so they can keep filling in the holes so there is a bump to drive over instead of a hole to sink into.
