momkatMemberDid anyone else just see the Blue Angels circle and land at Boeing Field?

cjboffoliParticipantmomkat: Are you sure they looked like Blue Angels jets? The last I heard they were still grounded for re-training in the wake of Commander Dave Koss being relieved of duty. I suppose it could have been some other F/A-18 Hornets in town for service or testing at Boeing: http://bit.ly/14CsOY

MargLMemberSaw this on the KING5 twitter feed – “Our friend @khodyg reports two F-18s buzzed his house near Leschi. Anyone else see/hear them?”
You’d think TR would be all over anything related to the Blue Angels :-)

momkatMemberThey looked like blue angels – flying in formation – but without the roar of the engines.

clark5080ParticipantThere are a couple of F18’s based at McChord or possibly Portland for Homeland Security it could be them.

WSBKeymasterI have tried off and on throughout the night to figure out what the h*** those jets were. I heard/saw-at-distance while at West Seattle Stadium covering the opening of Relay for Life. Nobody much was talking about them on Twitter, which is a hindrance. I can tell you they were NOT THE BLUE ANGELS, because when I was able to Google, first result I pulled up was the fact they have been virtually grounded since late May for screwing up at some air show somewhere (they will be back in flight in a week, so I guess Seafair is not threatened).
They also were not the Thunderbirds, the Air Force demo team, which is in Italy.
I thought maybe something related to the Sounders, since they were playing a home game at 7;30 and the flyby/flyover/whatever was just before 7 pm. Couldn’t find anything, but at the time I was searching on a mobile site via iPhone, so gotta look again.

GinaParticipantI was waiting for the water taxi, saw two low flying black helicopters, and a few minutes later the five fighters in formation. They weren’t blue, that much I can tell you.

JanSParticipantOne my way home from the dentist yesterday evening, as we were sitting in traffic on Montlake trying to get to I-5, the two helicopters landed in the parking lot just north of Hec Ed, sat there for a few minutes not too far from the parked cars there, and then they up and left just as quickly. Was kinda surprising.

WSBKeymasterMaybe they ARE related to UW commencement, then, which is the speculation I’ve encountered so far. I swear, there needs to be a central Stuff You Don’t Usually See In The Sky advisory center somewhere. Including private fireworks.

clark5080ParticipantMedical helicopters used to land there maybe they still do

WSBKeymasterThere was a commencement flyover, per Twitter. Still don’t know what the jets were or whose, though. You’d think they’d put that online.
