dan ciskeMemberHas anyone else experienced issues with bad gasoline? After filling up at a station on California Ave. on October 31st, our car stalled within a few minutes. Has repeatedly stalled, could drive 20, 30-50 miles then it stalled, replaced fuel pump today. Auto shop says they have had a rush on fuel pumps recently, they are suspicious that bad gas was sold during the past couple months, in the Seattle area.

2 Much WhineParticipantI’ve gotten bad gas from a purchase on California Ave. but it was from a restaurant, not a gas station. This response is pretty much worthless and does nothing to answer the question that was posed but I figured someone would say it and now I’m first! I can add that we’ve never had a problem with Costco or Safeway gas.

redblackParticipantcontact the franchisee/station operator.
then let us know what transpired and what station it is – so we can avoid that station until they purge their holding tanks of the putrescent petroleum.
edit: i think the original post qualifies as a rant. so in accordance with forum rules, i’d advise against naming the alleged offending operator’s business/franchise until the original poster has contacted its management about the problem and received some kind of response/non-response.

Street JesusMemberThere’s a little inspection sticker on the front of every fuel pump with an inspection date and (I think) a phone number. Call it and file a complaint or contact the Washington State Department of Agriculture. They’ll test the stations water contamination level to see if its above acceptable limits. Yes, they have acceptable limits for water in fuel…

skeeterParticipantStations sometimes do sell bad gas. Happened to a friend of mine. The distributor will/should pay for any damages to your car. Doesn’t happen often, but does happen…
