arennemoParticipantI don’t typically do this, but we’re in a jam. We have a sweet part Maine coon cat named Tuna, and she needs a temporary home when we go on our upcoming road trip. Would be July 2nd-18th. It’s a long shot, but if you’re interested in having a furry friend for two weeks please let me know. She lived with a couple cats before we adopted her, but probably wouldn’t do well with a dog. We have two small boys that she does well with them as she figures out how to have space when she needs it :) I can’t stomach taking her to a cat motel for 2 weeks and it makes me sad to have someone just stop in on her for an hour a day for that length of time. If interested, please drop me a line! Open to discussing compensation! Thanks!

levyParticipantYou should try to find someone to stop by daily to feed and clean the litter box for Tuna,Tuna will feel safer and be much happier than being sent to a strangers house. Cats are creatures of habit and love their domain!
There are a lot of very good pet sitters in WS that I’m sure you will find a good one. Good luck- This reply was modified 2 years, 9 months ago by levy.

jissyParticipantI agree, levy! No disrespect, arennemo but I suggest find a college student home for the summer who wants some space of their own & keeps Tuna in her own domain. When I finished Grad school and came home to live with my parents, this was totally my gig….. I house/pet/plant sat 20+ days every month until I could get my own place, I didn’t even care if people paid me! Maybe post on Nextdoor? Or some even more Hyperlocal channels? Good Luck!

aaParticipantFunny, I didnāt realize this post for a cat sitter was actually a request for unsolicited advice from strangers. What went through your mind, that you know better whats best for this adult and their pet?

levyParticipantaa—- Yes, I do not know better than Tuna’s owner I was just stating from experience with my cats that they are much safer, secure and happier in their own home and less likely to be so scared that they take off from where they are at.
Either way I hope their decision works out for all concerned.June 18, 2021 at 4:26 pm #1008709
levyParticipantaa——and it’s funny how you read other peoples comments and take it out of context. I for one re-worded my comment after reading it again and writing it after suffering from a migraine all day it was written wrongly.
After owning many cats and still do in my 65yrs. I believe Tuna would be happier at home a little lonely but happier until his people get home, but as you stated they know better.June 18, 2021 at 11:15 pm #1008745
aaParticipantI understand and may even agree with opinions about where cats may be happier.
My comment was specifically addressing the fact that she wasn’t asking for anyone’s opinion. She was asking for a cat sitter. That’s it.
Not anyone’s opinion on where her cat might be happiest.June 18, 2021 at 11:15 pm #1008762
aaParticipantMy comment was solely about the fact that comments in response to this person asking about cat sitters had nothing to do with her request. She was asking about cat sitters. Not if her decision was the right one.
Unsolicited advice: It’s disrespectful and presumptive to insert your opinions and ideas when they may not be wanted. Unsolicited advice can even communicate an air of superiority; it assumes the advice-giver knows what’s right or best.June 20, 2021 at 9:40 am #1008884
levyParticipantYes, goes both ways now doesn’t it
