HunterGParticipantThis makes me sad, not because I patronize their business, but because this business is a Seattle icon…
They have nothing to do with it closing, but I guess SAM won the battle.

grrParticipantI’ll miss their signage, for sure. Always clever.
Hmmm…maybe they can take the space next to the new Wing Dome.

cjboffoliParticipantI know, I just heard and was just talking to someone about this. Can’t say I’ve ever been in there but I love their clever marquee postings. I honestly cannot think of another city where a posh Four Seasons Hotel abuts a t*tty bar. Definitely emblematic of a part of Seattle’s unique character. I certainly hope they will save that marquee.

velo_nutParticipantPorn’s free now man.
SAM had nothing to do with it… if you want to look at a pushy neighbor, look at the Four Seasons.

cjboffoliParticipantvelo: The Four Seasons actually gave the Lusty Lady landlords $850,000 for air rights over their building.

JustSarahParticipantHunter, what do you mean when you say “SAM won the battle”? I have never seen anything stating that SAM wanted the LL out of the picture. Four Seasons, yes; SAM… well, as the Slog post said, Mimi Gates herself appreciates the Lady, apparently.
Anyway, I’ve never been in, but I remember the marquee from when I was a small child in the ’80s and did not understand any of the jokes. Sad that the Lusty Lady will be gone but the much more tacky-looking Showgirls farther north on First will remain.
I’d be willing to bet a campaign to save the LL will start at any moment (if it hasn’t already). I don’t think this is a cut-and-dried end to their story yet.

velo_nutParticipantCJB… I worked the Four Season’s construction contract… just because they tossed money at the LL doesnt mean the pressure isnt there.

HunterGParticipantSarah,
All I meant when I said that was a reference to their Marquee from time to time poking fun at SAM.

cjboffoliParticipantI’m actually not a big fan of my neighbors either. But me giving them almost a million dollars seems like a weird way to catalyze their departure.
Seems to me that some of the business travelers the Four Seasons caters to might actually appreciate the unique brand of entertainment the Lady offers.
April 12, 2010 at 5:12 am #692383
velo_nutParticipantNaw… they go for the three ugly ones at Deja Vu.

JustSarahParticipantHunter – gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. :) (The Slog post was my first time seeing Mimi Gates’ take on the LL, by the way. Awesome.)
