    Seems everyone has ’em.

We probably should start one sometime. (Next year?)

But in the interest of ruthless self-promotion, and because we have a fondness for the Weekly since one of its top people, Mike Seely, lives in WS and writes about it often … there is a “neighborhood blogs” category in its latest poll:

    http://polls.seattleweekly.com/polls/bestof08/

(And lots of other categories where you might want to share your faves too.)

    thanks,

    TR

Nor am I hip enough to fill out much more than the “required 5 fields” … actually I think I managed about a dozen. We can get some real West Seattle pride going in this one if people take a few minutes. Such as, Best Thai restaurant … not naming names but I’d say there’s one over here that probably deserves a spot in the city’s top rankings. Even if food is the only thing you want to sound off on, there are enough categories there that your ballot will qualify.

I wasn’t going to try to super-shamelessly campaign but in the past few days a couple recent newcomers to this line of business have shilled for votes and I am a terminally competitive sort of person, so I’m hitting it again. Voting deadline 7/25. Thanks in advance.

P.S. My favorite category was the very last one after you’ve clicked through 4 or 5 pages … “best whatever we forgot to mention” … Of all the quirky categories the poll does include, there’s still plenty of room to make one up for that last category.

I voted when it was originally posted. I guess I’m not that hip either – answered about a dozen of them too. :)

Most of my answers were for WSea businesses. I love it here but man, I gotta get out more.

i have company coming this weekend.

any idea where to go if i got out of here:)

i am afraid i tend to stay on this side of 99 too.

JoB, I’m clearly the last person to ask, but when I do venture further afield I love B&O Espresso on Capitol Hill, also Volunteer Park w/ the Conservatory. (See, if you walk around the park, you can reward yourself with the chocolate pot at B&O!)

    .

Frye Art Museum on First Hill ‘cuz it’s free, Red Mill Burgers on Phinney ‘cuz it’s amazing; Olympic Sculpture Park if it’s sunny, Seattle Art Museum if it’s not; Victrola Coffee and Coastal Kitchen on 15th for the hip factor, Fuel Coffee and Kingfish Cafe on 19th for the cool factor (and get a coffee mug that has the “FUEL” logo on it, ‘cuz that’s just fun) Archie McPhee in Ballard for kitsch, The Locks in Ballard for tradition; a monorail ride and Top Pot Donuts on 5th for the hell of it.

    .

Ok, so this is what *I* do for fun – I’m sure people who have lives can offer some better ideas!

VBF, Coastal Kitchen is owned by by the same peeps that run Endolyne Joes. It has the best breakfast for the buck…sorry Luna Park and Chelan.
