dazzelspaceMemberBe careful around the Admiral District. The Admiral Pub doesn’t care if they send angry, drunk ‘regulars’ into the community in their vehicles after a weekday afternoon of friendly boozing in their establishment. Their staff see no problem with this behavior – and it is OK to do it as often as you’d like apparently – if you are one of their “regulars” that is. I don’t know how many bars behave this way – but I DO know many responsible West Seattle establishments who DO NOT tolerate this at all – and at least make certain they are not overserving anyone that is going to drive. The Admiral KNOWS their regulars are driving – and seems to do nothing about it. If you have had a similar experience there (or anywhere in our community) – please contact the Liquor Control Board. They will help!

cruiserMemberEmm… Always wonder about someone who joins here today and then immediately blasts somebody.

JenVMembersounds like someone got either cut off or 86’d…

AnonymousInactiveI’m confused, are they angry or friendly? Or do they drink friendly and then drive angry? And I’m just wondering if you spend all afternoon monitoring their intake and then following each of them to their vehicle.
If you observe an impaired driver, please take down a plate number/vehicle description and call police immediately.

dazzelspaceMemberI have reported this to Liquor Control. It was suggested I post here to alert people to something going on in the community. That was clearly a mistake. This forum is just a bunch of dolts yelling at each other. No you dope, I wasn’t cut off… the drunk was – then got mad and zoomed away. You think that is a good thing? What a bunch of losers. Had this experience at this bar/restaurant after going there for years and I was pretty shocked how the bar behaved and how little they cared. But the LAW will deal with them.

dazzelspaceMemberHey Cruiser – I joined today simply to post this information. Sorry I didn’t follow YOUR RULES… You have to join to post. Don’t worry, I have no intention of sticking around. What a bunch of idiots on here. Laterz.

AnonymousInactiveSo we’re idiots, dolts, losers, dopes, and we think drunk drivers are a good thing? Much practice in communication skills? I think we’re all reacting to a couple of your ANGRY tirades. Try a different approach, get a different response.
And I believe I said call the police immediately, not smile and wave.

JenVMemberAngry Drunks on Wheels: sounds like a campy movie from the 50’s…

dazzelspaceMemberJT you are probably an Admiral regular? I hope you don’t lose anyone close to you or have someone close to you hurt or killed by a drunk driver. You wouldn’t be able to handle it. Bars that send drunks on to our streets are criminals – so says a good number of laws and even more of our citizens. Belittle me for pointing it out – its what I expected – but maybe my putting this out there will help in some small way. And yes, your comment is somewhat defensive of the behavior of drunk driving. Which means you are either really evil or just a dope. I am going with dope.

AnonymousInactiveHuh? I’ve said nothing but the opposite. Call the police. Call the police. Call the police. Any confusion with that statement? In the mean time you are angry, hostile and calling every one names. Kind of deflects from the topic, which should be about about the dangerousness of over serving and drunk driving. You’ve just managed to piss every one off.
I’ve never been to the Admiral Pub, rarely drink, rarely drive, and NEVER drink and drive.

JanSParticipantdazzlespace…back up a little..it’s one thing to rant about something…you’ll get our support..it’s another to be the newbie, and call everyone out because, etc, etc…yes, it wasn’t a good situation…but…he was cut off..remember that..he /she IS responsible for him/herself, including you to act like an informative adult….we appreciate those.
do you know any of us? do you have more than one drink at the Pub and get in your car? I don’t know you…I’m not accusing you of anything..but, gees, that chip must be awfully heavy on your shoulder…
May 19, 2008 at 11:13 pm #624834
JanSParticipantobviously, you’re a regular there to quote your words”Had this experience at this bar/restaurant after going there for years and I was pretty shocked how the bar behaved and how little they cared”
why now? what was it about this one particular incident that got you so riled?

cruiserMemberOk now don’t laugh but do you drink latte when you go there by any chance?
May 20, 2008 at 1:27 am #624838
KenParticipantProve to us you’re old enough to either drink or drive.
Then maybe your rant will have some weight.
You are accusing a local business of a felony yet citing no evidence other than your own assertion.
Whip it out if you got it.

ShibaguyzMemberwow… did this really just happen? I don’t agree with the way the original poster started with the attitude right away, but I also don’t feel really all that good about the way everyone started making statements that SOUND like someone has to somehow qualify to post certain comments on here.
Again, don’t beat me up for saying this. I’m just saying it sounded a little exclusive in nature… the tone, that is. But, then again, it’s difficult to interpret tone in print.

AnonymousInactiveThis blog is an addiction for me. I’ve tried to quit but keep coming back. The news for my neighborhood is essential but all the drama stresses me out so much so that I have told myself on more than one occasion over the past 3 years or so that I am never opening this blog again. There does appear to be an in crowd no matter how long you have been posting. I guess I am one of the originals but don’t feel welcome here. By the way there is still a toilet or terlit on the corner of Charlestown and 41st :)

KenParticipantThe cluestick has no preference as to how long someone has posted or lurked here.
Accusations of lawbreaking towards any business need to at least sound credible and may still be met with skepticism or agreement from any who have an opinion.
Smacking around the clueless is what the cluestick is for.
I could pick any business on the right side of the page ad roll and make up stuff that could be neither proved nor disproved. I would expect those who were not convinced by my evidence, or lack of it to comment as their own experience dictated.

JanSParticipantwsblover…we love having you come here…we are a community. I’ve been here in WS for 33 years, and finally feel part of this community because of WSP and the people on here who I have and have not met. Ya gotta admit..original poster was none too friendly…or specific…in their accusations..
no…re: that terlit… some dirt and some flowers? daisies, maybe ;-)

gambaruParticipantIn defense of Admiral’s Pub, a group of us were there celebrating one night and were actually politely and tactfully cut off at one point to “slow us down”. They also made sure our DD was drinking nothing but water and soda. In fact I believe her soda was on the house… We had a wonderful time and there was no hard feelings on either side. We stayed a long time to wind down before we left.
I didn’t see what Dazzlespace saw, but from my understanding resturaunts and bars are typically pretty careful about over serving and letting people go driving due to dram shop insurance. If someone leaves absolutely wasted and gets in an accident, legally speaking the establishment could be sued for their part in the situation. (At least that was the lay of the land when I wrote a paper on it in college a few years ago…)
**Dazzlespace is just on a rampage. I was on another thread where he/she warped it with hostility. Kind of wrecks it for the rest of us.

dazzelspaceMemberI could care less if I am “removed” or “disallowed” from posting here. I apologize for offending anyone. However, people here seem pretty self-absorbed and quite confrontational and rude without any cause! Can’t people disagree in a civil fashion? Anyway, for y’alls information, the authorities – whom I have spoken with a number of times regarding this incident – are currently investigating this and were very interested in what went on there. It is not worth any of my time to defend myself to this lot – you have your own thing here and I am not welcome. No problem. This situation with this fellow who had been sitting in the Admiral… according to their on-duty staff that day – they told me he was there drinking over 6 glasses of wine daily – that is how I know this – not from being there daily myself… it will be resolved, as they have been or will be visited by the Liquor Control Board. I know a lot of people who have worked in pubs and clubs and bars… and they were all nodding in total understanding of this issue. It is always tough for a business to deal with this – but they HAVE TO. Most bar staff tell me they simply won’t tolerate regulars who drive. They cut them off after a max of 2 drinks. It is a different matter if they know the bar patron is NOT driving. I think that is the responsible thing here that staff at the Admiral were choosing to ignore in this case. I am hopeful they will fix this problem with this guy and all. The Admiral has always been a great neighborhood place, one bad apple shouldn’t ruin that.

beachdrivegirlParticipantI think that you are assuming a lotDazzlespace. But your post was pretty demanding and I think it is only fair that we ask did you physically follow this patron out of the bar and watch him/her get into his/her car and if so why the he** did you not call 911 right then and there if you were so concerned with it? And yes i agree the LCB should look into all of these situations.
And on teh note of drunk driving does anyone else fidn it odd that down along Alki Beach where the Swell, Bamboo, and cactus all are there is no overnight parking! My guy and I noticed that while walking along there this past weekend seems like with all the bars there the least the city could do is show some lenience and let patrons of those bars leave their cars there overnight if needed without being ticketed/impounded.

dazzelspaceMemberAlso, briefly, for any normal person who reads this thread – start at the top – read the first 4 or 5 responses to my post – I got jumped all over for no reason and I reacted in a very predictable manner – defending myself and returning the insults that were directed at me. So, list manager who threatens me…. this is comical. This is called a ‘rant’ thing… since when are rants supposed to be judged like I was? You and your pals can now flame away… but I’m not going to read any of it…
