I’ve been using Amazon Fresh for the last few months. Some things are priced higher than Safeway, some lower. Their chicken is free range, their meat is good angus beef. They have two types of delivery, attended and unattended. I opt for attended so I don’t have to lift the crates that they deliver the unattended deliveries in. When they deliver to my apartment they bring the groceries in and leave them where I say. They will take them into your kitchen for you. The service is good, and after you spend a certain amount per month you get free delivery, sometimes for the entire next month. Last week, because of the weather my delivery was delayed, and was an unattended one. The guy actually brought them up to my apartment for me…really good delivery guys!

Safeway has an advantage over them , as far as being able to get sale prices for some things. They charge 6.95 for delivery, I believe, and also bring into your home. I haven’t used them in quite some time, so can’t vouch for their service now…

Amazon Fresh, hands down. We receive weekly deliveries and are entirely satisfied.

Safeway delivery is excellent — they bring things in and put them where I want; they even take away (and recycle?) the plastic bags they use. HOWEVER, you have to watch the “deals” they advertise on their opening page — for the past few weeks they’ve announced reduced rates (or free) deliveries and no such option appears when you check out. I asked them questions — twice — in their “customer service” window and got no response. Same thing happened with the “free turkey” — it was only free if you managed to track down the path and type in the right code. On the entry page it said, “Check here to get your free turkey.”

I have an obsession about hidden charges and deceptive web navigation — and, since I tried desperately to raise the issue with the business, I think I’ve done my part wrt the rules here. I still use safeway, primarily for staples, though I’ve been very pleased with the quality and service of amazon fresh too.

If your main concern is cost, Safeway is probably the best bet. If not, amazon is probably best. (Thanks to a friend’s gift of free delivery, I did use amazon a couple of times this month.)

Amazonfresh! We moved here from the east coast, I used Safeway delivery for 5 years in PA and it was awesome. The website is really easy to navigate and there are always good promotions.

However,I used it for about 2 months here and really disliked it. The selection was low, very little to chose from, and when I got my delivery they were “out of stock” on many of my items! The problem is, they don’t tell you until the delivery comes. On Amazonfresh, you can’t put it in your cart if they don’t have it. Also I found the produce from Safeway to be not as good.

Amazonfresh doesn’t have the most intuitive website (or maybe I’m just used to the safeway site) and not as many promotions. If you order a certain amount every month, however, you get “big radish” status, which entitles you to free delivery. Not to mention, you get discounts for many items if they are automatic delivery, and you can do doorstep delivery so you don’t even have to be there when it arrives! Plus you can do same day orders! I have been impressed with the quality of everything also. Love Amazonfresh!

I am a huge fan of Amazon Fresh and have been a customer since they started delivering in West Seattle. The selection is good, but the produce *sometimes* isn’t up to my picky standards. Price is great – It feels like I spend a lot less just due to the lack of “lane grazing”. all that being said, I always get unattended delivery, so I don’t know how they are with bringing the groceries into the house for you.

I have no experience with Safeway delivery. Maybe give each one a try? I know AF has a $30 minimum per order, and delivery is $5.99 if you don’t have “Big Radish” status.

I decided to give it a try, so I ordered for the first time on Safeway.com – since I had a promo code for free delivery + $15off my order… we’ll see how it goes! Ordering was simple, they had everything on my list. QUESTION: how much do you tip the delivery driver?

The drivers aren’t allowed to accept tips. Same thing is true of Amazon Fresh drivers.

We just tried AmazonFresh.. dropped like $400 on the first load of groceries, another $200 or so a month later. It was totally worth it. If you go over the threshhold for “Big Radish”, all your deliveries are free for a month or so. Great for getting a random thing you forgot (tomatoes, dish soap, etc) and we’ve found the quality to be great. Some of the meat especially was great.. 5 lbs of free range chicken in 1 lb packages, tons of organic hippy choices, lists you can share.. so my lady friend can add stuff and share and it gets added to the list.. and theres like a 15% discount if you add it to your automatic deliveries. I didn’t even know safeway had home delivery but based on my satisfaction with amazonfresh I’m not even going to bother looking

As a single person, I really appreciate those smaller chicken breast packages. They’re perfect for me. I’m trying to eat as healthy as I can because of various factors, and have found the free range chicken (and their angus beef) to be delicious. Love Amazon Fresh!

I was really impressed with the Amazon Fresh service. Individual pricing per item is similar to MM, or QFC. I liked how I could reserve a slot and keep adding things to the list up to 7 hours prior to delivery. Good selection of stuff — they even carry cases of Java Logs. My injury keeps me from lifting weight > 10 lbs for awhile and groceries are one of the greatest challenges. This lightens the load on my caregivers and lets me feel a tad more normal — the fee for scheduled delivery is trivial in this light.
