Can anyone share their experience with the newly opened Alki Beach Academy? Specifically their discipline style, treatment of children, level of communication with parents and neighborhood (the location is a bit unconventional.) I would appreciate both pros and cons. Thank you!

My son has been attending Alki Beach Academy since they opened. He is almost 11 months. We had previously been at another well known daycare which we had bad experiences with. Alki Beach Academy and their staff were like a breath of fresh air. The staff clearly love each child and treat them all with respect, compassion, and love. Communication with parents is by far the best I have experienced. We get a written daily report each day which include naps, diaper changes, food, bottles, any extra activities the child did that day (music class, went on a walk, etc…), and anything else they feel important. They are very open to feedback. I actually find the location much more convenient than many of the other area daycares. I found the building and outdoor play area to be a lot nicer than most daycares we toured. I feel like my son is thriving there. Hope that helps. I am pretty sure they are full, but I am sure if you contacted the owner she would be happy to answer any questions and/or give you a tour if she hasn’t already.

I agree with Guidosmom- my daughter is almost 22 months old and has been at Alki beagh academy since she was 18 months. I have no other daycare to compare to, but we only had a nanny prior to the switch. I was really nervous about the transition, but couldn’t be happier with the decision because I can tell she loves it. My daughter laughs and smiles when we get into the parking lot. The staff is wonderful and you can tell they love the kids. The owners are great and can be reached so easily. Communication is awesome and I love getting daily reports as art projects. They feed them healthy and organic food that is made from scratch each morning by one of the owners. While it doesn’t have the most traditional setting location wise, the inside/outside play area is great and they take them for walks too. I think my daughter is definitely thriving there :)

I know they are in high demand and might be full but it might be worth shooting an email to Julieann, one of the owners a and try to take a tour.
