tanyar23ParticipantDid the air smell strange to anyone else today? It stunk in Highland Park.

tanyar23ParticipantIt did smell like sewage. It was pretty awful.

mindiMemberWe had a pretty awful smell this morning – we live across from the ferry. Thought it was maybe the water… seems to be lifting down here though

sam-cParticipantyes, thought it smelled like garbage. I hope/ assume it will probably dissipate with weather pattern changes.
<snark> “don’t complain – that’s what happens when you live in a city. if you want the air to smell fresh and like wildflowers, you need to move to the county” <snark>

austinMemberMy backyard smelled like french fries the other day, that was weird.

CMPParticipantIt smells in my cubicle right now thanks to whatever gross food my neighbor is eating.

tanyar23ParticipantSnarky. :) I know cities smell, but this smelled like straight up funk.
Personally, I love to bring curry dishes to work and share that aroma with my colleagues.

Robert2715ParticipantI thought I smelled something weird this morning too as we headed off to work. I live in Admiral District – near the Admiral overlook. Warm weather related?
January 22, 2010 at 8:14 pm #686918
charlabobParticipantWe live at Admiral and 47th and the sewer smell this morning was horrible. Since I always feel guilty, I walked around the house to make sure it wasn’t us. :-) It wasn’t — gross as it was, I’m relieved to hear so many other people “enjoyed” the warm spring scent.

wundrgrrrlParticipantFunny, I thought it smelled like a natural gas leak when I left home this morning at 49th & Admiral. At my destination down on Harbor Ave, it was the same thing – it did have a hint of the “Puget Sound Seaweedy Swamp” smell that we get every so often.

WSBKeymasterJust checked this to see if anyone’s pointed this out yet.
PLEASE report such things – if they’re more than fleeting – to Puget Sound Clean Air Agency.
here’s info about making a complaint:
http://pscleanair.org/contact/complaint.aspx
They may not be able to do anything right away but getting different reports of this sort of thing helps them track potential problems, if there’s something recurring. I have checked out previous such cases and they do say that odors can be an “air quality problem.”

JanSParticipantI smelled it late yesterday afternoon as I was out walking in the Admiral Junction area…thought maybe there was an overripe garbage container at Jack in the Box, or wherever. Reminded me of the aroma in Tacoma :(

mpentoParticipantHey, mother nature can be pretty stinky too. http://www.examiner.com/x-12202-Offbeat-Places-Examiner~y2009m8d28-Algae-on-French-beach-kills-horse-but-the-problem-is-worldwide I remember coming across this article last year as there was a smelly algae bloom around Seattle at the time. They keep saying it was a warm January.
