I have a wonderful friend who is coming to visit from SoCA at the end of this week. We are both kind of in recovery these days from self-inflicted stress-overload, so are making this a v-e-r-y mellow visit. I am taking her for New Wave O’s Rancheros at Easy Street, and then would like to take a drive to show her pretty old houses and trees with leaves that turn color. Suggestions of a route for us?

Best fall colors I’ve seen are along Harbor Avenue, Delridge Way (especially near the Boren school building in the 5900 block), and 35th SW south of The Triangle. None of that really dovetails with pretty old houses, though – the homes in the Admiral area are generally the oldest, so maybe a jaunt along Sunset Avenue, which may have some colors – we don’t get up there too often. Good luck! – TR

I drove up Sand Point Way yesterday up to 110th NE…the trees at the U and up Sand Point Way were beautiful, and depending on where you go around the lake…like Mary Gates Way behind the UW parking lots, there are some old really nice houses there…and lots of trees.. Just a pleasant drive…
